I'm gay, and I saw the word 'gay' is censored in Everybody Edits. I think this is a prejudice, the word this is not a ****. Pack it!

Usually, the word " gay" is used as an insult. No need to have an anger, just turn off your censorship, end of the story.

Gay is used as an insult? How can anyone use this as an insult? Prejudice! I do not see anyone insulting other players with this word. Yet I still think this is a prejudice.

I think the main two reasons it is censored is because it is often used as an insult (and was originally one against homosexuals, but has mutated since into two different modern definitions), and the fact that homosexuality is a taboo that may concern some people.

The word "gay" is abused quite a bit by younger players of this game, but I personally don't think it should be censored, just stating my opinion.

N1KF I think the main two reasons it is censored is because it is often used as an insult (and was originally one against homosexuals, but has mutated since into two different modern definitions), and the fact that homosexuality is a taboo that may concern some people.

It's not an insult, and it's their problem if they take it as one.

Yeah but the problem is why is it censored in the first place?
There are people who prefer to have censors turned on to avoid seeing actual swear words and profanity. It's an inconvenience to them if they don't get to see words such as "gay" as it's used in normal English. Conversely, if they turn it off just to see words like that, they have to deal with profanity that they probably do not want to see.

The thing is that "gay" is only a word that is used to define men who are in a homosexual relationship. Lesbians are women in a homosexual relationship. As a straight guy, I can say that the reason why I have been offended by being called gay was because it violated my sexual orientation, and what I value from it. For example, I really love my girlfriend, but then some bully at school calls me gay, as if threatening me. I myself will take that as a threat. Then, I would think that other people could think I'm gay, perhaps even some girls would think I'm gay. My point is, rumors can spread around easily and it may be too late for me to get a girlfriend from that school (since most or all of the girls would've thought I was gay or something). Then, as the rumor spreads around, others start calling me gay, and then it just becomes... viral. It can get bad..

The good thing is that the term "gay" being used as a threat is starting to decline. So, should it be censored? Nah, whatever. If people do start naming others gay, then it should go back to being censored.

My religion has nothing to do with it. I couldn't care less what your sexual preference is.

It's been censored for a long time. And for a good reason, because people use it as an insult. You may not see it as an issue, but many others do. Also, this is a kids game where your sexual preference shouldn't be discussed. It has been highly debated on whether or not we should uncensor it.

As this is a game for children, why many people like 18, 16 and even 20 years play? And I'm not talking about my sexual preference, just I think the *gay* word should be uncensored, as only dirty words are censored in EE. We can say that teenagers are dominating Everybody Edits, and they are great to learn than to insult a player with this word. I do not see more insulting other players as well, so it has to be uncensored.

It is taboo (and therefore inappropriate) to many people for religious or moral reasons. Just because you have some beliefs does not mean others' should be ignored.
