Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

I do expect to do more with Rotate at some point in the near future, but currently I'm going to be focusing on some other ideas I'm more interested in at the moment. Definitely lots of interesting ideas to explore when I do get back to the Rotate idea, though!

I'm getting more focused than ever on pursuing game development professionally, starting with my first paid release on Steam and such. It's a hacking game with lots of puzzles and an interesting story, and I'm hoping to be ready to launch the Steam page for wishlisting the game later this month. There will of course be a teaser trailer coming then, so keep an eye out for that! //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/big_smile

Alright, things are now officially wrapped up for me with EE & EEU. I've done some prep work for future updates (sidebar stats, world purchasing, the shop, etc.), left some notes and advice on certain topics, and had my developer roles & permissions revoked. I'll still be making myself available for development consultation for the time being, but my work on the game has officially come to an end.

It's been a wild ride, and I've learned a ton over these past couple of years. Thanks again to everyone who's supported the project along the way, and thanks again to Xenonetix for the opportunity to play my part in the story of Everybody Edits.

I'll see you around!

Hey guys. This is going to be a big step for me, but it's time to officially announce that I'm stepping away from development on EE & EE Universe. And while this may come as a bit of a surprise, it's something that I've known would be coming for a while now.

Before getting into the reasoning behind the decision to step away, I'd like to discuss the current state of things with EEU. Most importantly on the development side, Niels & John have been making fantastic progress on the server rework, portal physics, UI, rendering and more. They seem to work well together at solving problems, and they've quickly adapted to the way things work in EEU. Xenonetix continues to assist with development as well, focusing on fine-tuning the physics. The game is in a good position to aim for a successful future as long as any potential concerns are addressed in regards to the player experience & building a cohesive game design.

Ever since I joined the staff in January 2018, it's been a massive learning experience. This has been the biggest project I've ever been involved with, and it's always pushed me to learn new skills & to adapt to all the crazy situations we've found ourselves in. From EE to EEU, I've been involved with so many different things with programming, UX/UI, graphics design, and much more. Working alongside everyone who's been involved with the project, we've pushed through finishing many tough updates late into the night, and fought together against the various waves of hacking. I greatly respect the efforts of everyone who I've had the opportunity to work with, and who have poured so much of their time and effort into the game.

Of course, this brings us to the question of why I'm stepping away. There are many factors in my decision, but the most significant involves how I've had to split my attention across separate projects over time. From the very beginning with Rotate, and time and time again with subsequent projects, I've constantly struggled with this. If I were to continue with EEU, I'd need to make the decision to make it my primary focus, but I can't really do that. There are so many ideas that I need the freedom to explore as I enter this next chapter of life, and as much as I want to see EEU be a success, it's not my game. I can't hold onto it so tightly that I hold everything else back, and it's not fair to this game either.

So it's best for me to step away from the game while it's in a good position for me to do so, before things get really crazy with the public release, and especially while I'm working towards my first Steam game release. I'm working on my most ambitious solo project yet, a unique hacking-themed puzzle game with intense storytelling, and it'll be my first full-size paid release. This is the next step on my game dev journey, and for this to work, I need to be able to dedicate myself to it completely.

But I don't want to leave the game in a difficult position, and that's why over the past few weeks I've been working towards completing all the remaining tasks that needed my help. I'll be finishing up the last few things over the next few days, including some preparation for the UI for world purchasing and the shop, that way the dev team can just hook things up and be good to go. And although I won't be actively contributing to the game going forward, I'll definitely remain available to help the dev team figure things out over this transitional period.

Before leaving this off, I want to thank everyone who's continued to support this project through all of the ups and downs. This project has gone through some very difficult times, and only time will tell how this will all shape the game's future. Ultimately game development is about making games for all of you to enjoy, and without you there wouldn't be much of a point. I can only hope that everything that has gone into EEU will pay off, and that we get to see it become a huge success in the future.

But my time on the project is coming to an end, and it's time to take this leap of faith to see what comes next.

Been attempting to get this working this morning, tried about a dozen different configurations (including the one Snowster sent which looks like PlayerIO's) but so far I'm not getting the images to load on Kongregate. I'm guessing there's either a setting somewhere or something that needs done in the clientside code, going to try looking into that more soon.

Been another big week for EE Universe! Added global switches & doors, as well as gold & blue coin doors, along with some other fixes and improvements! Definitely on our way to getting on track with getting to the next stage of EEU, where we'll finally be able to open the game up to a larger player base.

I'm going to be taking a break from doing these videos for the time being, after 3 years & 150 videos, but I'll still be doing occasional videos with any important announcements regarding my games. When it comes to EEU, we'll definitely keep you all up to date via Discord and of course any posts on these forums! //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/big_smile

Well, it's been a while since we've had a big update for EEU. There's been the occasional small update, but through all of the recent events, progress has been slow.

Now that we're getting back on track, we just released a new update that brings local switches & doors to the game! They're equivalent to the purple switches in EE, and global systems will be coming in the next update (along with coin doors, most likely). I think this update will help get the ball rolling again with making good progress towards the next stage, and I plan to bring a lot more to the game in June! //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/big_smile

3. Where in my post do I blame Trump for anything? My post had nothing to do with Trump directly. I think you just made that up as a symptom of your own "Trump Derangement Syndrome"

you are proving my point get help you dont want to get to stage 5 do you?

Let's try to not get too far off base—his question was a valid one, as even though it would be nice if people's personal views & beliefs didn't get in the way of things, there are those who let them do just that. A lot of it is just down to our tribal instincts, going after those who we feel don't belong, those who we feel threaten our way of life.

And although probably won't help for me to explain why I currently believe the way I do, I'd at least like to briefly explain the two points Attila brought up.

Regarding me being a Trump supporter (for lack of a better term), it's easy to assume that it would mean I support everything he says and does, which simply isn't the case. There are some points I agree with him on, but certainly not everything. But in neither the 2016 election (when I wasn't a voter), nor the current one, has a better alternative come forward. I would rather vote for someone who might steer things in a different direction, with the chance for positive change, than to perpetuate the same negative spiral.

And regarding the topic of "transphobia", which I understand is a highly sensitive topic, I'd like to at least clear some things up without getting into too much messy explanation. The issue is presented in the use of the term itself—by the commonly understood meaning of the term, it implies that I hate those who consider themselves transgender. This simply isn't true. Yes, I feel that it is an unhealthy path due to physiological & psychological reasons, and I certainly believe it's harmful for children to be exposed to the concept at an impressionable age. I feel the way I do because I care about people, and I don't want people harming themselves further in an attempt to fix what hurts deep inside. But we're all on our own path in life, and the choices we must make along the way are our own to make.

While this is my current viewpoint on these topics, I certainly understand that not everyone will share it, and some will take great offense to it. But ultimately, no matter what "side of the fence" we're on, it's a universal truth that the majority of people have positive intentions guiding their decisions. Where those decisions take us is never something we can properly grasp ahead of time, so we can only operate to the best of our knowledge, and by having an open mind to consider the views of those around us who think differently. That is how I choose to believe.

It's been a strange couple of weeks, being busy with things & exploring different ideas. But I did work on getting an update out for EEU, which introduces a couple of new smileys (joyful & cheeky), along with some improved functionality, tweaks, and bugfixes. For everyone who's not in the closed beta, here's what the new smileys look like:

Well, last week was definitely a weird one, and involved work on a variety of interesting things. In the midst of it all, I did get some updates out for EE Universe, including the addition of Vision Zones! They essentially now allow you to define a region where when players are in that zone, everything outside is black. It's much like filling a large area around your structure with solid black blocks, but now you can fit everything much closer together. //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/big_smile

Some improvements to their functionality, performance, and the way they interact with the other gameplay elements will be improved over the next few updates. There are also some bugs that have been found regarding their rendering, and I'll of course be getting those fixed up shortly as well.

We did end up getting a decent update out mid week that included some new blocks (the tiles & tile BG's), some new commands (/spectate & /tp), some new minor features (basic minimap zooming, will be improved over time), and of course some fixes & refinements for the physics. No bigger update over the weekend, but we do have stuff in the works. First thing this week though, I'll need to get a bugfix update out to resolve the issues some players have been experiencing recently.

This week's video primarily focuses on the progress I've been making on my own game, but also does discuss what's currently going on with EEU. Most importantly, that we're working on getting a smaller update out very shortly with some new blocks, smaller features, bugfixes and physics refinements. We'll then be working towards getting another larger update out by the weekend if at all possible. //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile

The main problem that could potentially come from forcing being zoomed out is that for some players, zooming out does cause a drop in FPS. An option to disable zooming out entirely could work though, and it's something we're considering. //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile

Hey guys!

Obviously there was no video last week, and that was because I was really busy with trying to wrap up the EEU update I had been working on for quite a while. I had intended to try to get the update out Sunday morning and release my vlog later in the day, but the update actually ended up taking until Thursday (and I spent Friday making a bugfix update). But it's done now! //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/big_smile

I guess something about the strange stuff that seems to go on beneath the surface stuff we normally hear about on the news intrigues me. Like the sealed indictments, the q-anon stuff (no clue how legit that all was), etc. I just think there's a lot more to it than meets the eye, and based on the reaction he gets out of certain groups he's either not on their side or he's really good controlled opposition. And I suppose anyone trying to change things from the inside would have to stay ambiguous like that, so no one really knows what side anyone else is on.

#19 Re: Creative » I've made a Donald Trump 2016 hype song » 2020-01-14 22:09:37

I think it's probably best for me to avoid going into any specifics to avoid starting anything. I do definitely agree that there are some questionable things going on, so I'm not really sure where I stand right now.

In many ways I just don't care about these things, but I know that doesn't really help to fix the issues with this messed up world.

It's definitely a tricky question considering the way things are going currently, but I probably do trust him slightly more than just about anyone else running at the moment. Just from the occasional things where he says or does something that seems contradictory, but then it turns out to make sense from a strategic perspective. Politics are definitely a complicated game, and I understand that they're a game with huge consequences for everyone who's not even directly involved.

But I don't think there's anyone I necessarily agree with 100% on anything, partially because I'm still young and figuring out what I believe myself. And I'm sure that over the next few decades my views will likely change on some things as I figure life out. I guess that's what we're all trying to do, after all.

We'll planning on reserving the trophy for use as an award for building contests in the game and such. Custom win messages do sound like a good idea, definitely something to consider.
