This would be a good idea although for the judges 200 levels is alot.

Let me clarify what this thread is trying to accomplish.

We are not looking for volunteer judges, or else everyone will want to join the panel. We are open to taking suggestions from the community for well-liked players we may have overlooked, so please feel free to suggest someone besides yourself.

Now to get this thread back on topic, please indicate if you are open for having a panel of player-judges evaluate your Halloween maps. So far we've received only positive responses, so if that trend continues we will definitely move forward and hold our own unofficial judging of the contest complete with mystery prizes.*

*Mystery prizes subject to change at anytime and will probably consist of pride and respect, which are better than smilies anyway.

well we can't vote for ourselves so..

I suggest that smileyxp should judge.
Smileyxp is a very good judge, he tells me about my worlds
and what i need to improve them and what can be improved
so i suggest for him to be a judge.

May I judge?   I am a veteran EE player.   I'm sure people would vouch for me.   I had a similar idea to this, but I was planning on posting this as a separate topic.   I figure this way, my judgings that I already made can just go to this and not another topic.   Basically, I'm not asking to judge, I'm asking for someone to volunteer me to judge.

I would like to be an unoffical judge if so possible.Also i think maybe nighter would be a good judge.And i dont even know Chris's friends,and alot of ppl dont,so i think they would suck for judges.

Obviously this is a good idea. Non EE players, like most of the current contest judges, will probably not be able to pass the beginning minis and so base their votes on what they can see, the art.

I support this, seeing as the panel is consisted of mostly people I would have chosen myself and people that have a good experience of everybody edits. The list is a bit too big, in my opinion causing a few problems.

1) If everyone is assigned a set number of maps, they will not be judged from the same point of view.

2) If everyone judges every map, it will take a lot of your time not only for judging but for putting together the information after as well.

Remember to stay fully neutral while judging maps, not giving better comments to your friends (although it won't hurt as this is not official )

The contest is over, so we will release a final unofficial judging panel soon. We'll see how many from the list can commit, and we'll try to decide on general guidelines for how we will judge the maps. Please be on the lookout for more updates.

I will be doing my critiques of the art again in a separate thread as well, like I did last contest.

I was at a rate of 40 an hour, but then slowed down as I got tired and only got through 125 in 3.5 hours. Should be done tonight though.

At the first sign it sounds like a good idea but make a list of at least 15-25 people instead of 3

Else you just could say it now couse there wouldnt change much.

I wont get suggested I know, as im not well known. Just because Im not the best at art doesnt mean I dont know how to judge and give feedback >.< Why not give me a shot? Im well liked, except by awzzomedude for some reason, but I am friendly and kind. Hope you give it some thought!

Also, i reccommend star. Star doesnt have a forum account, but look in AE levels if you want to find her.

We all know the judges for the Halloween contest will be comprised of Chris's friends, but that doesn't mean we still can't also have experienced players drawn from the EE community decide their own personal winners for the contest. Many well-known and highly talented EE players have been contacted about forming an unofficial judging panel that would evaluate the contest maps and decide their own first, second, and third place winners.

The point of doing this is to not only highlight possible differences in winners depending on the experience level of the judges, but to also validate truly deserving maps in the eyes of the community. This also will show that the EE community is capable of evaluating their fellow players' maps in an objective fashion without the need to bring in outsiders to judge a contest.

Unlike the past two contests, this unofficial judging panel would have an unprecedented degree of transparency by revealing the process used to judge and possibly posting detailed information on why the winners were given a certain placing. This will allow the community to have greater trust in the objectivity of the judging and will also provide critical feedback to be used not just in future contests, but also in making maps in general.

The following is a list of potential judges who have expressed interest in joining the panel:

Before we go ahead and take this process any further, we want to make sure the EE community is open to having player judges evaluate their maps. Between now and the deadline for submission to the Halloween contest, please let us know if you like this idea and if the above tentative panel of judges appears suitable.

Any feedback is appreciated, and if the community responds favorably to this idea, we will make sure to post more details and information.
