Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

We all know the judges for the Halloween contest will be comprised of Chris's friends, but that doesn't mean we still can't also have experienced players drawn from the EE community decide their own personal winners for the contest. Many well-known and highly talented EE players have been contacted about forming an unofficial judging panel that would evaluate the contest maps and decide their own first, second, and third place winners.
The point of doing this is to not only highlight possible differences in winners depending on the experience level of the judges, but to also validate truly deserving maps in the eyes of the community. This also will show that the EE community is capable of evaluating their fellow players' maps in an objective fashion without the need to bring in outsiders to judge a contest.
Unlike the past two contests, this unofficial judging panel would have an unprecedented degree of transparency by revealing the process used to judge and possibly posting detailed information on why the winners were given a certain placing. This will allow the community to have greater trust in the objectivity of the judging and will also provide critical feedback to be used not just in future contests, but also in making maps in general.
The following is a list of potential judges who have expressed interest in joining the panel:
Addi
Bee
Daniel1234
DKLevels
D-Rock2308
EEDD
Haka
Johan/Jaa
Kankurou
MFL
MIHB
Mustang
Musuki
RavaTroll
Scythe
Starblinky
Supadorf24
This is not a final list, and any suggestions for more judges are definitely welcomed.
EDIT: This does NOT mean we are asking for volunteers, so please suggest anyone except for yourself. Thanks.
Before we go ahead and take this process any further, we want to make sure the EE community is open to having player judges evaluate their maps. Between now and the deadline for submission to the Halloween contest, please let us know if you like this idea and if the above tentative panel of judges appears suitable.
Any feedback is appreciated, and if the community responds favorably to this idea, we will make sure to post more details and information.

Sounds interesting, will it be before the official judging, at the the same time or after it?
I expect much better feedback from this than Chris's friends actually, not only because the judges are way more experienced, but also because of this of course:

Also, I would like to be a judge, if I can. (:
Nice idea, I don't think Chris' friends will be very good judges.
From what I hear it will be something like that what bee did for easter with all the level breakdowns.

Great idea! The group looks great and lets see what a big difference we will get between the winner's selected by chris's friends and by this. Sounds fun. ^^

I don't see the need for this, but I'm sure others do, so whatever. Judge away! This is basically going to be an upgraded version of Bee's criticism on Easter contest levels, right?
I, personally, would rather see a petition to get Chris' friends out of the contest, but it would be ineffective, anyway.
Off Topic: Wow, Johan is JAA? That explains why you guys revere him, even though I've never seen "Johan's" work.
EDIT: Mwuahaha! I planted the seed of Bee in D-rock's mind!

That's difficult to say, especially if the official judging runs long. We'll try to stick within a similar time frame, but we will make sure we do not rush anything especially if people would like feedback.
We're looking more so for judge suggestions, not so much volunteers to make sure any extra judges we add are approved by the community.

We'll definitely have some sort of breakdown for the first, second, and third placers. We cannot possibly provide feedback for all 200 maps, but we could perhaps provide some general comments for the maps that do not place. It also depends on how much time the judges can commit to this, so we'll flesh out the details for how feedback will work once the community approves.
I definitely support this idea. I have this gut feeling that most of the winning levels are gonna be art based. I would much rather here thoughts from the community about my level, then the thoughts of people we don't even know.
No Office? Oh, well...
I personally think this is a great idea, feedback is always useful, not just for contests but level making in general.
It would be great to get more experienced people to give you feedback for the contest as supposed to having it judged by people we hardly know...

This is why I asked for suggestions. If others in the community think Office would make a solid addition we'll definitely include him.

Hardly? How about don't know at all?
I Think This Is A Great Idea.
Giving Feedback So People Can Improve Their Worlds.
That Means More Better Worlds In EE.
