Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Why do we have codes?

Sounds crazy. I'm going to cut to the chase.

What is the point of codes anymore? Code is x worlds? Yeah, they've been plaguing EE ever since the beginning (in my opinion), and, although these not illegal, they tend to be very cancerous. It's a miracle if you can keep one from getting trolled for more than twenty minutes. If you want people to get edit, you could easily click their username and give it to them, or type the command. Depending on if you've spent the energy or not, people already automatically get code if they're in your crew (and they have the permission to by your activated options). So, remind me again why we need codes?

(Oh also, if someone had a code in a code is x world, they could easily login a bot and start doing some cruddy things, but without the code, you would have to give them permission to use the bot.)

Re: Why do we have codes?

Because there isn't a good reason to remove it.
You've only listed reasons not to use it, not reasons to remove it.

Re: Why do we have codes?

You can tell your friends a common code you use that they can help edit a world. (You can say 'just get a crew!111111111111111' but its easier this way)

Re: Why do we have codes?

I don't see the point of them either. I haven't seen anyone utilize codes in a serious level since /giveedit was implemented. The worlds that do use them are almost always free-for-all/joke levels.

If codes are removed, it would free up a lot of space on the toolbar that could be used to improve the UI.

Re: Why do we have codes?

I think it is important to remove for new players. Considering the size of it, they probably think the owner just gives it out. If it's more clear that the owner won't randomly give out code, less people will feel sad when they are trying to ask for code and everyone calls them "noob" for doing so.

Re: Why do we have codes?

they have codes because if the owner of the level leaves how will the people get edit. What is the point of the code is lands? Codes are still useful for things like boss to codes because you have to type /giveedit ----- or you can put a sign with the code.

Re: Why do we have codes?

OP

Code to xxxx levels are fun mainly because of how they're designed. It's kind of a world that's more like "join for drunkness", or something of the sort. Anyways, I think they should stay.
P.S. Woot this post if you thought c# or binary or some kind of code, or encription, like enigma when you came to this post //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue

Re: Why do we have codes?

Codes where usefull when ppl could actually join a closed world and edit it, but for some reason soemoen decided that that was a bad idea and disabled it.
so yea in the current stat codes are pretty useless

Re: Why do we have codes?

maybe codes should be removed entirely and /giveedit may be usefull for owners plus itll stop those pesky code breakers/guessers. Also giving hackers a new system to attempt at which should last a good while.

Re: Why do we have codes?

Because say you have a group of trusted people, you can give them the code and allow them to give the code to other trusted people. It's like a closed "code is 1234" world.

Re: Why do we have codes?

most people are too lazy to check if a person is trused or not so they just make the title "code is 1234"
they are popular because it really describes the name of the game we are playing: Everybody Edits
sure there can be a troll now and then but its really fun to build. maybe even more fun to build together

Re: Why do we have codes?

well checking if a person is trusted or not should just be "do I know them? If so do I trust them?", or even "do they have a green name". And it's even less work when you can get other people to do it for you.

Fun fact MrShoe thought this was how codes worked which made doing some of his building impossible - he never changed it.

Re: Why do we have codes?

The purpose of codes is to give someone edit without neccessary world owner's presence. Whether that's good or bad judge on your own.
