Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Hello EE! Failgirl here! You may know me, or you may not, but my name is failgirl101, and this is my guide to good and bad levels.
Bad levels
~~~~~~~
Ok, let's roleplay here. Let's pretend your new to EE. You see all these unique and different worlds. Then you decide to sign up for an account, and you save up enough energy to eventually afford a massive world. Your first question is, what should I make? Well let's first cover what you shouldn't make.
1. HOOK JUMPS, HOOK JUMPS, AND OH YEAH... HOOKJUMPS!!! I cannot stress enough this very important issue. Do not use hookjumps in a level! Now alot of users already know this, but if you are new here's why! Hookjumps are difficult, yes, but they are repetitive and boring! Most bad levels on EE contain hookjumps. They are not only lame, but they **** off the users. The more hook jumps in your level, the more likely you are to have players ragequit, because they cannot get past them. So what have we learned? Do not use hookjumps!
2. Stairs, for the love of EE do not make stairs. Similar to hookjumps they are very boring and un-original. The only difference is that they are easier. They are still none the less annoying, and if there are too many in a level users will quit
3.Coins, can be bad, if you use to many. Ok, there are levels where you collect coins to activate coin doors to move on in a level. So there are not that many. There are other levels where people have what I like to call a "Coingasm". A coingasm is when someone feels the need to fill there level with hundreds of coins to make it look better. I've even some levels where every blank space is filled with coins! Coins are ok!, but in moderation! When making a level try not to have a coingasm.
4. Easy minigames. This one is quite literal. EASY MINIGAMES ARE NO FUN! If you get a massive world, and put nothing but easy minigames, everyone will win it really quick and there won't be any real fun or challenge. You want a world to look good, but also be somewhat difficult at the same time. Repetitive easy minigames are boring and provides no entertainment value.
Some examples include
-Hookjumps
-Tight fits
-Stairs
-Easy jumps
-Gravity jumps (can be made hard but are generally pretty easy)
-Elevators
- the one where you fall from the top and have to land perfectly between 2 blocks
5. Bad art. This one is really self-explanatory, and really something that I can elaborate on. When making a level USE ORIGINAL ART! Now I realize sometimes pixel art can be hard, but that's no excuse to use google searched sprites in your levels. Try to use your own imagination and come up with something unique, not just something dumb and lame.
some examples are
- Mario sprites (DO NOT DO MARIO SPRITES!!!!! THEY ARE EVERYWHERE AND THEY ARE SO UN-ORIGINAL!!)
- Smiley art**
- Pokeballs
- Hamtaro (I have seen quite a bit of him)
- Pac-man and ghosts
- Any sprite looked up on *google and copied
* My thing with google is if you want to use it, use a picture that is not a sprite. Like maybe a picture of a flower, or a picture of a ring. Don't use pictures with perler beads, because that's just copyingand If you do use a reference, give credit to the original picture.
** The only exception to smiley art is if it's original smileys. If it's the same smileys that have already been created then it's really kinda lame.
6. Misc. Ends
Nub Coasters- These are roller-coasters that are surrounded by blocks on all sides and go back and forth a zillion times. *yawn*
Magic coin AFKS- They generally don't work
100 minigames levels- Repetitive and boring
Bosses- Bosses are alright, but if you want one in your level it's generally best to put it at the end, so users have a reason to stay in your level even after they win
Code is...- Never make a level name with the code in it. It's like a beacon for trolls and your level will be destroyed in seconds.
Excessiveness- Bigger does not mean better! Just because there are alot of something ( like minis, or smilies ) doesn't make the level any better.
Mess levels- I haven't seen much of these, but a level that's been pre-trolled and all you do is jump across the trolled bits to the top is BORING
Biased levels- Just because a person has a ninja smiley does not make them any less of a troll. Most ninja levels end up getting trolled, because people are carelss with the code. Only give the code to the people you trust the most, not just to people who have better smilies.
Obvious code- This is especially important for non-saved worlds. Don't make the code obvious. Don't make it 1111, 1234, code, edit, or asdf. These are the most common codes and trolls can easily guess them without you telling them.
... and basically don't do anything inappropriate.
Now there's one more thing I'd like to say before I end this section. Just because a level's at the top of the list, does not make it a good level! In fact most levels at the top are lame noob levels that are only popular because a user made a zillion clones. Oh, yea don't use clones. They are quite the annoyance. Lastly, if you know a level's lame don't play it. Just leave. Don't let a pathetic user, with a pathetic level, grace the top of the list.
Good levels
~~~~~~~
Now making a good level is not nearly as difficult as you would think. Trust me, it's easy! Now if your new don't feel pressured into making something lame, just because you are having a hard time coming up with an idea. So here's a few tips and ideas to making a good level.
1. LOOK ON THE FORUMS! Generally every person on EE has one talent. Whether it be art, minigames, level design, etc... No one says you have to make a level alone. There are alot of kind and friendly users on EE who would be more then willing to help out with a level. Say your great at making minigames, but need a good artist, just post your *beta-permalink up on the EE forums and users will come from all over to help. Don't be afraid to ask for help, and remember! Your level belongs to you! Don't feel like you have to change your level to make other users happy. As long as you like it, it's usually good.
2. Good art and Minis. Ok. This might be one of the more difficult parts to explain. Or is it? So you know what's bad art, but what is good art?? **Good art is basically anything that's not bad. To elaborate, it's something that's original, cool, new, something that really reflects you! If your new, try using a cool picture from google images, and attempt to re-build it in your level. It generally turns out pretty cool.( Just don't forget to give credit to the original ) Now good minis are a bit harder. Minis are usually something that you just know. I'm not very good at making minis, and good minis can be hard to make. That's why when I want minis I ask about on the forums, and since you know what's bad, now you can figure out what's good!
3. Be original. When making a level go nuts! A world is only limited by your imagination. Be creative and have fun! Make friends, and be cool. Be original, new, and totally you!
4. Don't feel pressured. This is a big one. This also contributes to repetitiveness. Just because everyone else make stairs, hook jumps, and ninja smilies does not mean you have to! Make the level YOU want. Not what everyone else makes. I mean if everyone made stairs EE would suck and I wouldn't play it.
5. Reach out! If you know you are good at something, reach out in the community. Share your talent with others. Communicate and make friends. Join a crew along with other talented people, and next thing ya' know you'll be making the best levels ever!
6. Just please be appropriate

Lastly a few behavior tips
Please don't troll. People will find out it's you and they will not trust you in their levels anymore.
Don't be an ****. If your in a non-saved world, and someone gives you the code, abide by the rules of the owner, because technically it is their level not yours.
Don't make false promises. Don't tell people you will give them the code just to lure them into your level
Don't make clones to bump your level to the top of the list. It's really quite rude.
Don't sass the moderators, this is technically a kids site, and they are only doing their job.
Also one more thing I forgot to put. Now I'm not trying to put down all the users that have already made stair levels, and mario sprites, I'm just trying to advocate my ideas. All these ideas are 100% mine, and whether they help you or not is up to you.
... and I think that about sums it up. If there's anything I missed please let me know. Also if you see any spelling errors please tell me, I am a spelling freak D8<
Have fun making levels!!

- Mario sprites (DO NOT DO MARIO SPRITES!!!!! THEY ARE EVERYWHERE AND THEY ARE SO UN-ORIGINAL!!!
That's so offensive to the Mario fans like me in EE. If a mario fan read that part, they'd be ****.
Edit1: +rep for making this nice guide!

Like I said, I'm not trying to offend anyone, that's just my opinion. I think mario is over-used alot.
Thank's for the + rep , I hope this gets stickied
I skimmed over it.
Unoriginal Post idea.
I skimmed over it.
Unoriginal Post idea.
D8 I thought it would be helpful, especially since EE's slow decline. There has been an increase in the number of easy minigame levels and stair levels and I thought the community might need a friendly reminder that there's more to EE than that.
Anyhow gtg bed. L8er.
- Mario sprites (DO NOT DO MARIO SPRITES!!!!! THEY ARE EVERYWHERE AND THEY ARE SO UN-ORIGINAL!!!
I...am offended
What's the big deal with mario sprites?? I SEE EVERYONE DO THEM! but very few people do original art. I hate it when people come into my level, do a cheap mario sprite imitation and leave. To me, good art is original art.
Hm. Zoey approves of this guide.

Pretty nice guide - too bad most people only do the things listed in the 'Bad levels' section.

You spelled alright wrong, you said allright.
. . . Bosses- Bosses are allright, but if you want one in your level it's generally best to put it at the end, so users have a reason to stay in your level even after they win . . .

well be a good troll and troll the STAIRS TO CODE etc the crap levels PLEASE
I disagree when it comes to hookjumps. Sure they aren't the most fun thing in the world, and can be boring when used excessively, but there's nothing wrong with a few. You may as well get used to them. Hookjumps are here to stay.

I totally agree, and I suppose I do over-react about them, but I hate it when people think "hook-jumps" are hard minigames. They are easy, and quite the annoyance if used excessively.
well be a good troll and troll the STAIRS TO CODE etc the crap levels PLEASE
Believe me, I will. I know alot of basic codes that people used in non-saved worlds. Like mostly all ninja worlds the code is either "1111" or "ninja".

Exactly! I mean 1 or 2 is ok, but like 6 or 9 in a row is so lame.

Nice guide, but what's wrong with hookjumps? A modified hookjump can be very usefull in pro levels, I mean those hook jumps with gravity dots/arrows on them.
