Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Hello!
Im --->NipsMan<---
This topic is all about discussing if there are going to be any new competitions for EE. I hope there is because it is coming up to halloween and I hope MrShoe or whoever introduces it in the new update.
Last years halloween contest went like this:
As most of might have heard already at this point, it?s time for another contest to begin! Who can reap the grand prizes and become the ultimate Halloween champion of 2011? Signing up will be done in a separate topic that can be found right here. Sign up your teams before 24 October!
And now for the rules?
PRIZES:
1st place ( 1 ? 4 ): Pumpkin smilies (lit, unlit), Golden trophy
2nd place ( 5 ? 8 ): Pumpkin smilies (lit, unlit)
3rd place ( 9 ? 12 ): Pumpkin smiley (unlit)
Finalists: Honorable mentions and links from the blog.
TIMEFRAME:
17- 24 October: Enter your teams! (Signing your team MUST be in the forum topic)
24 ? 31 October: Create your levels!
1 ? 14 November: Judging begins! (NOTE: This is only a window, not a definitive date for when judging ends. We expect it to be done sooner.)
SIGNING UP:
- You MUST sign up your team before 24 October, or else you will not qualify for the contest.
- Only 5 creators per team at most. You are however free to be only one creator, if you wish to do so.
- Being in more than 1 team simultaneously is NOT allowed.
- Signing up will be done in the official forums.
BUILDING:
- The completed map MUST be Halloween-themed or else it will be disqualified.
- Animated/autobuilded/imported levels will instantly be disqualified.
- Make sure that you?re making the level on a world that can be accessed by non-betas as well.
- Minimum world size must be 200 x 200 (Edit: 400 x 50 wide worlds are now okay since they still have quite a lot of space to work with)
- If any of the following items are included in your map, it will be disqualified to ensure that all entries are of high quality:
?Smilies
?Sprite art from other games
?Imported/animated art
?Bosses
?Stairs
- Levels will be assessed and judged based on these specific aspects:
?Quality of artwork and visuals
?Quality of minigames
?Challenge
?Fun factor
?Originality
SUGGESTIONS:
- Art and minigames should blend in seamlessly with each other. What this means is that we?d for example prefer not to see a bunch of completely black Minigame boxes surrounding a piece of beautiful art. Make them blend together!
THESE ARE THE RULES FROM LAST YEARS CONTEST PLEASE DO NOT THINK THE COMPETITION HAS STARTED YET/ IF IT WILL.
here are some other EE images from last year:
Comment on your opinion of the topic and about the halloween competition (If there is going to be one)

There isn't going to be another contest, Master1 he never said what you are going to post.
Why did you just copy and paste last years?
Contests used to actually happen, but then EE got boring, and they stopped.
I dont understand why EE has to stop contest when it helps boost EE experiences. For example: A halloween contest could make new crews and potentially make EE far more enjoyable and fun to play. At the moment EE is very good and has very unique and cool updates however it needs contests because it can really help with the game!
Btw Saintcool- I know I copyed from the blog but hardly no one has a topic about the halloween contest anyway here is link to the blog: blog.everybodyedits.com
Also Saintcool im not master1 if thats what ur on about.
also I was just scanning the interent and i advise you go to this level:
They stopped because people were ungrateful on the last one, and it is too much work.
I don't want a link to the blog, I was saying why did you post this topic, I think everyone has seen the blog post.
By master1 I was meaning every time I post "He isn't doing another contest" he makes up some lie about MrShoe doing another one.
And I don't want a link to an unoriginal annoying level.
Fine...
I've entered all the contests -- got in the top 10 in one, failed the second, won first place in the third, much to everyone's outrage. (The minimap with ribbon picture is still saved and right in the middle of my desktop) and although I've been disappointed that my team didn't win, I honestly don't care any more. The spirit of the contest was fun enough for me and the only time I use my smileys is when I want to get the code in a world or something.
Anyway, I think I'd like another contest, but preferrably not a halloween one. A thanksgiving one would be interesting.
And yeah, okay, people are going to get upset over everything, but oh well, they're just sore losers. You can't just stop the only EE event we have just because a lot of people can't handle it.
also, I gotta say, that trophy in the image is hella nice -- I just wish we had gotten that instead of a small one, especially considering that the complete level trophy thing is about as large as the prize would have been. Downsizing, my ****.

Let me make this clear: There is absolutely no chance whatsoever that there will be a Halloween Contest this year. I would bet everything ever on that.
I don't know anything for certain - but I think that there will be another competition like thing in EE sometime. Even if it isn't the traditional contests that they've been doing. I wouldn't mind something different, I just think competing is fun. Even when I didn't win, collaborating with several different people, being set under a time limit to make something great, is still enjoyable. I also thinks it brings out the best of the users.
If there are no more contest, that would be unfortunate. Personally, I think that if contests were cancelled, it would be because the majority of EE users couldn't handle loosing, probably my self included at the time. Even people who actually placed were still complaining that they weren't higher ranked. Although, I will admit, the first round of judging was poor, but the community round of winners were quite accurate, in my opinion. So that doesn't really matter.
That being said, I do not think having no more contests would be very fair. It's not fair that the majority of the older "generation" didn't take it well, so now the new people don't get to try. Probably more than half of the people who entered last year for the Halloween one, don't even play EE anymore. But who knows, maybe that was exactly there plan. To wait for the older generation to shoo off.
Anyway, If there is another one, then my best guess would be a Christmas one.
Honestly, they should just give something to all entries. Then no disappointment, and you still get them contests!

If you can't handle losing, then you shouldn't sign up for the contest. Simple. As. That.
Honestly, you wouldn't expect adults to whine over losing the lottery, so why waste your time whining on about something that will literally mean NOTHING to you a year or two from now?

I believe this plan will work:
Weekly or biweekly small contests, and large contests two or three times a year
Small contests are awarded with ribbons located on your profile and can decorate your smiley
Large contests award smilies or trophies, ribbons, "titles?" etc.
"People who will always win" will be unable to go to all the smaller contests, giving "people who wouldn't win" a chance to win something.
People who "aren't as good" will be given a chance to win, this way they are more likely to practice, gain experience, and improve
At the time of larger tournaments, everyone will prepare for those, possibly skipping the small contest beforehand in the case of preserving a level
No one will miss the larger contests, and everyone will have a chance to win.
Promised contests in the future will likely reduce disappointment from losing and encourage people to instead improve
People who win will have to practice themselves to continue winning
This will help the community as a whole, and the frequent competition may appeal to a wider audience
While some may not like competition, as long as the prizes are kept as something worth getting, and kept to an honor or title-like award, (ex: desert contest winner 2083) then...
the prizes should only appeal to those who wish to have such an award, rather than those who want to do something like collecting all the smilies, and the people who want to compete have a chance to win something potentially worth their time.
In the case of complaints over not getting a ribbon, there could be a normal ribbon update, with more extravagant ones as a prize.
^^Great Idea.
It probably won't even be looked at though, which sucks.
P.S. People will complain about the prizes not being open to the public, will boycott the game, so on and so forth.

Wow, I really like that idea of smaller, weekly contests. Every update could have a contest, where you have to show off that pack. The winner, could then get featured in the blog, at the next update. The only problem would be getting people to judge the contest every week (the weekly contest map size limit should be large (or space)). Although, getting people to judge the contest would become easier as time goes on, because the interest in them would eventually decrease, leading to contests to be judged more effectively. I like the idea of getting ribbons for the smaller contests, visible on the profile.
That is actually a REALLY good system.
