Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

"Smilies" vs "Smileys".

I have seen an article on the EE Wiki at wikia.

http://everybodyedits.wikia.com/wiki/Smilies (To mods: don't delete it, it's not a link to a bot. EE is human.)

As you can see, it's called "Smilies".

I think the correct word is "Smileys", but do you think I'm wrong?

Well, let me know. -HF

The plural of smiley is smilies, there is more than one smiley in Everybody Edits.

I prefer 'smileys' to 'smilies,' but the title is the choice of whoever makes the article.

Smileys is not a word where I live, it gives options to auto correct it. However smilies is spelt correctly as it is not underlined by that red line. However I prefer smileys.

I prefer smilies.. but I don't think the plural form of smilies is coined.. the slang "smilies" and "smileys" are synonyms.

I like smileys, its cuter somehow and smilies doesn't look right to me.

Smileys has no red line either.

Re: "Smilies" vs "Smileys".

The English rule for pluralization is:

-[c]y  --> -[c]ies -[v]y  --> -[v]ys  Eg Bully  --> Bullies Spy    --> Spies  Day    --> Days Survey --> Surveys

So smileys. Google spell-check agrees with me.

On a completely unrelated note, the plural of "octopus" is "octopodes" although "octopuses" and "octopi" are also used. Since octopus has Greek etymology, so does its plural. We can't steal the singular form of a word and leave the plural form, now can we?

Yeah, well, you know that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.

Smilies looks like smillies... I use smileys cos it looks cooler. Also chrome says it's not smilies.
