Yes, it is theoretically possible, but I suggest you try it out for yourself - the whole thing - and you'll find out that section really is no fun at all.

Somehow I managed to beat that part.
Held jump and right, then quickly released and re-pushed right somewhere in the middle of that. Got across in about 5 tries. I rage-quit in the impossible part because, well, it's impossible. Well, not actually impossible, but purely based on luck. 1 space hook jump? No thanks.
