Benjaminsen Q&A 29 July

Chris agreed to join to join us in a private chat, so we had a little Q&A about the latest update and other things:
General gravity

MegaLamb:      Benjaminsen: Has gravity been increased? It seems that arrows are stronger and you can fall through dots more easily now
Benjaminsen:        MegaLamb, the physics now ticks slower than it did before (at 100fps rather than 1000fps)
MegaLamb      Ah, so less inconsistency when jumping on arrows
Benjaminsen:      I did everything possible to get it to be the same, discarding the bugs I did everything I could to make it work as it used to

Key bug

Nou_EE:      Benjaminsen, am i correct to understand you've fixed the keybug? im testing it now and it seems fixed
MegaLamb:      If the whole thing was rewritten, it's possible the keybug was automatically fixed
Nou_EE:            only physics were rewritten iirc
Nou_EE:            but it seems fixed, which is great  
Benjaminsen:      a lot of things where rewritten on the server as well
Benjaminsen:      pure cleanup
Benjaminsen:      but things might have changed a tad

Level loading

Benjaminsen:      Nou_EE: hah, your level is so complex it results in a timeout on the server                                           when it tries to load it
Benjaminsen:      Guess it's time to do some optimization
Benjaminsen:      Nou_EE: fyi I am getting peter to look at making loading faster
Nou_EE:            if that's the issue
Nou_EE:            cause loading for 1.5 weeks instead of 3 isnt that great     
Benjaminsen:      Nou_EE:
Benjaminsen:      Nou_EE: We will get it to work

Dot bridges

Benjaminsen:      I will fix this
Benjaminsen:      with the bridge

Deleting blocks

Nou_EE:            oh Benjaminsen sometimes if you hold shift it wont delete blocks
Benjaminsen:      Nou_EE: it stays to the layer you start at
Benjaminsen:      i.e. if you click the bg first it will only delete bg
Nou_EE            ohh, that explains a lot

Minimap colours

Nou_EE            oh and Benjaminsen just to re-assure some people, the colouring on the minimap will be re-adjusted to make it closer to the old colours, right?
Benjaminsen      Nou_EE: yes
Nou_EE            ok, nice

Signs/text

Benjaminsen      Nou_EE: the reasons we do not have signs are that they come with the same issues as chat does
Nou_EE:            well
Nou_EE:            you were introducing texts
Benjaminsen:      Nou_EE: never for users no
Nou_EE:            so users will never get them?
Nou_EE:            people are expecting them
Benjaminsen:      Nou_EE: people are expiating admin mode as well...

But the coloring isn't, in itself, a bad thing, it's just that it messed up existing worlds. I've gotta say I'm disappointed with this one.

This is made up. They are lying. There just SAYING that to get our whinning **** to shut up. Do you not get thatr? Nou and the rest of you saying this isn't made up. Well actually it is.
