I'm not sure if it's better or worse than the alternatives that it was hackers that got the final blow on the game to kill it.

Since 2019, EE lived its last day, and EEU has been cancelled. Now we have EE Offline, ArchivEE (an archive of nearly every saved world), and the upcoming EE!. EE is now owned by Satanya and under a new team, with a hopeful future ahead of it.

edit: Also, this thread is eleven years old now. EE itself is slightly older, at twelve years old.
