I'm not even a fan of his, but having just listened to Blackstar and watching the videos, it's not just about being famous and being a singer. It's so much more. David Bowie has influenced so many people in the world, and I think a lot of things would be different today without him. The contributions he's made to us, and the music and everything else he's given to us, it's so much more than just publicity.
Blackstar is his parting gift to the world, he released it on his birthday a couple of days ago. Just listening to it, it really gives you chills.
It's more than just being a singer, he's shaped people's lives in ways that you can't imagine.

Yea this really shocked me even though the only song I could come up with of the top of my head was Under Pressure by him and Queen.
So yea, didn't see that coming.

guys I have a theory
He was actually meant to die a long time ago, but he made a deal with the devil in order to prolong his life and see through his final project - Blackstar. This is evident through the satanic symbols that appear in the music video for the title track Blackstar. After releasing the album, he stayed alive for a couple of days to see how the sales went, and only then was he finally able to rest in peace.
