Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

I resign. Remove my worthless waste off the list.
My artistic talents are so deficient, anything I make looks like something similiar to Ex crew's "works".

Please replace me with one of the substitute teams / companionless peeps.

I'm very sorry to hear that. But spare the harsh words and start to think contructively of yourself instead. I'm sure that you may possess great talents in terms of design, you just need to let go of what everyone else can do and think about what YOU can do. Self-doubt is your worst enemy.

Re: The first Everybody Edits event ever: NEW YEARS 2011!

I got a question about this contest however. After we create our place and all the voting is done, are the creators of the place about to use their place for farther use such as someone makes a 2011 minigame world then after the contest is all done then they keep the place and let more people in the future to have fun in it.

Or another and better example. A place where people can look around in a 2011 fantasy place and after the contest is over then they use the place for something such as zombie vs humans or a village or something.

Once you have submitted the map, every map will be copied over to a private server for testing 31 december 14.00 GMT. However, it is preferred that you guys keep your maps untouched during the judging and the voting so people can try them out for themselves.

Re: The first Everybody Edits event ever: NEW YEARS 2011!

^^ I have a question too.:/

Where it's possible to see the different map? On list, on beta list or on special list?

I have found different map, but it's to hard to see different.:o
I now sometime it's beautiful but hard to play and sometime it's nothing. And sometime the world are not connect on list (my world) and respect the new year; it's for that I would like, and I think for another people, now who are the right map. (Just for laughing.) https://wiki.everybodyedits.com/images/c/c0/069_LOL

I know, I have to stay more than 31 dec 2010 to vote, but I would like to test now.

I'm sorry, but I have not idea what it is you just wrote.

If you want to play other levels that have been submitted, there's another topic in this sub-forum where everyone gets to submit their levels.

Mario art, art of videogames are forbbiden? And EE Animator levels how you will see if is or no?

Yes, video game art is forbidden as this is supposed to be New Years themed.

That's not something I wish to reveal publicly, but we have our ways.

RPG someone in my group loaded in an image for a reference for fireworks. Although I deleted it and it wasn't even used for reference. I have been screenshotting the artwork constantly to show the progress of the art. So you can see exactly how everything was made. So if you do have something that tells you my map was using an editor, this would be the reasoning. Will this be an issue for our entry?

Also I heard that the judges pick the top 10 and users vote for the best of the 10? I feel like this is a waste of the judges talents and time, all you're used for is to sift through all the bad levels. Which just about anyone could do - and you'd really only need one person for..
Also the average EE user will not have the skills to properly assess the top 10 maps. They are casual players that can chose a map over another because of 1 simple thing.. maybe a mod gives him the crown? And more importantly, who says everyone will play all 10 maps? Not really giving everyone a fare chance.

Its my opinion that all the winners are chosen and reviewed by the judges.

^Or, if you still wish to give the voters a say, create a points system that weighs the judges' and voters' opinions to your liking.   For example's sake, we will go with a 60% judge, 40% user points weight.

Rank         Judges              Users
------         --------              ------
1st               300                     200
2nd              270                     180
3rd               240                     160
4th               210                     140
5th               180                     120

And so on.

Regarding the first point: No, that will most likely not be an issue.

Second point: That was actually my opinion as well, that the judges should be in total control of the whole process. However, Chris felt that the users themselves should also have say in determining the outcome of the contest so that's what we tried to incorporate in to the process.

I actually like the current way more than the two newly suggested ones. Giving users the ability to vote gives them the ability to be more in control.

Well can you inform Chris that the idea is completely flawed? Not all players will get to play all the maps.. So how is that even fare?

Maybe have the judges pick the top 3 and users pick their favorite and all the 'favorites' are counted up, whoever has the most wins top prize, 2nd most is 2nd prize, 3rd is 3rd. This way there is less work for the users to do, not as many maps for them to sift through and it is more certain a well deserving map be chosen for the right prize.
