it all has to do with the fact that "the collected coin" block has a separate ID from the "uncollected coin" (the only item that is implemented in such a weird way)
By manually placing 110 111 IDS you can **** up the coin counter

In EE you could use a bot to place already-collected coins. I don’t remember that messing up the counter though - it should just increase both numbers.
One bot to rule them all, one bot to find them. One bot to bring them all... and with this cliché blind them.

if you delete pre-collected coins after placing them i think it does this
