Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

...I opted in like 10 days ago. Now the game is shut down and I have nothing to play. When is the invite link going to be sent?

The later you opt-in, the later you'll get an invite. Simple! There are still many people waiting so patience is the key here

I am seriously losing my patience though. I'd think 10 days is enough, gonna give this another week...

Like, isn't the point to retain players? Seems like people are getting discouraged to continue into EEU by needing to wait. Which is completely understandable.

Xeno really is the only one sending out invites and he can do it like 50 at a time before waiting for several hours or even a day.. The system he uses to send invites marks the mails as spam and doesn't allow to send more mails later on

WHY is this not automated

WHY is this not automated
oh god you have no idea how many times i asked this question to xeno when he wants to do something by hand
he literally refuses to automate things and prefers manual work labor (and then complains that he works very hard.... on sorting and answering emails)

wow

WHY is this not automated
I automated it, but he wanted to verify calculations of each user and manually approve/edit them if needed. We can only send a few emails each day as well.

The email provider will temporarily suspend the account if too many emails are sent at once as we're on a free plan.

Xenonetix didn't want to pay for Zoho Campaigns, so we had to work within this limitation. It's not a "technical excuse" - let's not make baseless assumptions please.

You can justify it however you like, it doesn't change the fact that you're going to experience significant drop-off from this.
Offline
I'm not justifying anything as it wasn't my decision as aforementioned. I'm just explaining the situation.

I am wondering if my ban before EE was shutdown is delaying the invite.

From my quick research, SMTP messages don't look much more complex than HTTP messages. Could Xeno use a different email sender, or send them from the Everybody Edits website directly?
Good question! There's a lot more to email than just SMTP unfortunately. SMTP in its simplest form is almost easy enough to tap out into telnet or whatever by hand, if you're quick enough to dodge timeouts and don't make any typos along the way. But there's a lot more to email nowadays, mostly anti-spam measures. Even established email providers sometimes struggle with it and suddenly everyone using the service gets filtered into a spam folder, assuming their emails go through at all. And for applications like EE or the forums? Just not worth it in the slightest. Easier and preserves much more sanity to just hop on one of those services that deals with it all for you. There are free tiers, but generally people want $$$ in exchange for navigating the email minefields.

I woke up today to find a new message in my inbox, and surprisingly it was the invite!
Well, at least it didn't take a month. Sorry for being annoying about this.
