If you don't want to spend money, your only choice is to use the daily reward system to farm gems.

You get 6 gems over the course of three weeks. Beta is 75 gems iirc. You need to log into EE every day for 38 weeks (~9 months) in total to be able to buy beta.

Some other options:
A) Hack the game/steal someone's account info who has Beta/steal your parents' credit card
B) Go back in time to when Jawapa was making free gems and ask for some.
C) Beat a Gem Contest Map. (like CTM)
D) on't. Just don't get Beta.

all options i know of:
1. daily reward each week gives 1 gem then 2 then 3 then cycles back iwiht 1 so 6/3weeks
2. campaings igve gems based non difficulty mostly its the last tier of campaign btu some campaign got tiers added later liek seasonal ones
3. unlikely to happen but if there is an EE contest and ur a good builder you win loats of gems
4. buy em
5. suport patreon of EE/xenonetix to richive either gems/beta read every tier and costs/month to see what fits you if you wantto do this
6. maby a good frind wants to tranfer some gems over ask xeno to do this
7. some users host thier own complet this map for X gems (ususaly you hav eto be the first and its an extreme map)
8. blackfriday is aroudn tanksgiving in novemeber if im right almost everythign including beta is 50% price
9. if im rihgt there is a really low chance if you get magic that it holds a few gems hanst occured yet as far as i know and im not sure if it sitll exists
10. beg xeno to give it and pray really hard he'll say yes but its a 99.9999999....999% chance its a no
11. hack your acoutn and the game to chnage hte number of gems and get banned
