Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Re: 9/11 today...

The Japanese attacked the United States, provoking the use of nuclear weapons. Prior to Japan bombing Pearl Harbor, the US made attempts to stay away from combat in WWII.

It wasn't the Japanese that attacked New York on September 11th.

Stop comparing apples to oranges.

Re: 9/11 today...

Every death-related tragedy/massacre should be treated with respect for the fallen (if their cause was noble). What makes 9/11 particularly memorable is countless innocent lives were lost, these people never knew what was coming. It was a terrible surprise, and in an instant about 3,000 people didn't get a chance to say goodbye in-person (but some did write home letters, or left voicemails to their loved ones). 6,000 sustained injuries. It shattered the guise of security in America (and the world), and shook everyone for a long time.

Because of 9/11, the airport started severely enforcing security. Prior to the event, you could walk all the way up to the airport gate and wave goodbye to your friends or family. Now you can only drop off whoever is flying and pray they make it safely. Not to mention the really high wait time.

It's not just "libtards" who care about this event. Anyone who lived during that time and knew what happened will respect it. Visit the memorial and you'll be greeted with a quiet, eerie atmosphere. It's very quiet and contemplative.

The only reason why 9/11 is more commemorated than others is because it was in the US, simply.

Do we ever talk about these?

Roughly. After seeing these tragedies on the news, no one gives a flying **** about them. But when a terrorist attack happens in France, USA or all those stuck up rich countries, then It's the end of the world. This world needs some serious fixing, humanely.

And in other news, the equivalent of 3 American lives were killed by US airstrikes in Syria today.

Re: 9/11 today...

@Kira I was going to reply on the forums, but I'll just do it here.

Most of the events you have listed are tagged as wars. On going conflicts, not a single event.

You're looking at 3000 civilians dying in a terrorist attack, versus 10K combatants dying in a series of events.

It's all far different than most terrorist attacks. These guys hijacked 4 commercial airplanes, and intentionally crashed them into important buildings, full of people.

It was also a major turning point in how a lot of things are handled. Airports is the obvious one. The way that fire departments respond and handle CISM has changed a lot. The way emergency personnel communicate, stage, care for wounded, and plan took a 180 after 9/11.

The reason terrorist attacks dont have as much publicity today, is because this is now the world we live in. 9/11 was the beginning of a long line of terrorism. It was the starting point for hundreds of thousands of more people to be killed.

Terrorist attacks in other places get reported, but it's no longer "omg what's happening?" Its "wow again?"

Every person is equally worth.

I’m making fun of the notion that some people’s lives are worth more than others based on geographical location. It’s called sarcasm.

Let’s all try not to get too triggered in this thread.

Re: 9/11 today...

What about the forced sterilization of 25-50% of native american women in the united states from the late 60s into the 70s? (https://daily.jstor.org/the-little-know … can-women/) This isn't some fringe conspiracy theory, it's a scholarly article from JSTOR. Heard of it, collegeheads?

Oh right, your computer never even told you about that. Same (actually, a much larger) amount of innocent tragedies, 0% of the coverage. Native american populations in the united states are stifling to this day from this latest attempt in history to wipe them out, by the US government itself. They could do it again today, and no one would bat an eye, due to the utter lack of coverage. Media forms your perception, but you're too blinded by that good blue light to see it.
