It was a good film in my opinion. I was really sad at the end though when I came home to find I'd been lynched in mafia.

I don't think it's a deus-ex since they could have very easily handled that scene without having him hold the hammer. The reason he can hold it is simply because he has become worthy. We've never been told what exactly counts as being worthy though.

Besides, it's not totally out of the blue because, in the scene in age of Ultron where they all have a go at picking up Thor's hammer, when Cap initially tries to pick it up it wobbles a bit:

It was **** amazing. I predicted Black Widow was going to die because she has a prequel movie coming out. The extra characterization helped prepare me for her death since I assumed it was foreshadowing. They also actually made Hawkeye cool. I didn't expect at all that Tony would die. Being Marvel's cash cow, I thought he's survive. Granted, I had a feeling before the movie even started that he'd retire from his role as Iron Man to take care of/have a kid. I really wonder what they'll do about him. There's a small chance they'll bring him back, but IDK. Replacing his character will be hard, and the best candidate for a replacement would be his daughter... who is less than 5 years old. They may bring in a whole new character or give the role to Pepper (though she has a kid to take care of), but I'm kinda lost on what will happen there. I absolutely adored the part where they went to the old movies. It was just so surreal. I like how Cap said 'Hail Hydra' because it reminds me of the time his character was changed to work for Hydra and everyone got mad because they didn't understand that it was part of a story arc where he had basically been reprogrammed. It was also amazing that he got to wield Thor's hammer. That has been foreshadowed for a while, and it has happened before in the comics. It was cool to see Thor go for the head, become and overweight gamer/alcoholic, and join the Guardians of the Galaxy. I hope to Lord Gunn that we will actually get to see the 'Asgardians' of the Galaxy. Ragnarok was amazing, and it would be amazing to see its humor mixed incorporated into a 3rd Guardians. I kinda suspect Valkyrie will actually become the new Thor since female Thor was in the comics, and our Thor has a new weapon. With 'female' characters, I'm all for them when they're done right, but Marvel definitely pushed that 'females are powerful too' agenda on us in a very unsubtle way as if we were bigoted idiots. It's offended both sides of the political spectrum because one sees it as giving women an unfair pedestal when the playing field is already level, and the other side sees it as an attempt to pander to an audience by saying they get their little moment whilst the rest of the movie goes on. It was okay in Infinity War because it didn't seem as forced. This one was more of magically putting every female character together for a scene. Are men so useless that they all were doing something less important than protecting the gauntlet. Are women so useless that it took so many of them to defeat that army when Captain Marvel and/or Scarlet Witch could have done it single-handedly? It was forced and unneeded, but at least it was just a small, stupid scene that didn't matter anyway. It taints my view of a nearly perfect movie a bit, but it isn't enough to make me love it less. Valkyrie becoming Thor makes sense; Iron Man's daughter following in his footsteps along the line makes sense; Hawkeye's daughter becoming the new Hawkeye makes sense; even Captain Marvel being female makes sense because Ant Man isn't Hank Pym, and Ms. Marvel is a thing in the comics. I don't think Black Widow will come back at all, but I feel Gamora may get her memories back from the realm of the soul stone. I'm not familiar with this part of the comics, so I may be completely wrong. However, Marvel made it clear that the soul stone either teleports you to some place or at least makes you think you're some place else. This may be a whole realm. Gamora probably is there and can't leave, but what about 'new' Gamora? Maybe she'll enter and gain those memories, or maybe she'll exchange her place with her since they are the same person. Now that Loki is free, Doctor Strange doesn't have the time stone, time travel has been figured out, and so on, I wouldn't be surprised if all of this will work to bring Tony, Gamora, and Vision back. I think the actual stones are gone forever because they're way too powerful, and their very existence can open up so many plotholes or cheap dii ex machinis. I'm still wrapping my head around this movie, and I've only watched it once. I'm sure there's tons of stuff I missed. I know someone who missed the Stan Lee cameo because he went to the bathroom then (the movie really should have had an intermission), and that cameo marks the end of an era. Okay, I'm done for now. I'll probably be back with more crazed rambling. Edit: I didn't even touch on how amazing the time skip was. Completely subverted my expectations; I was thinking a few months at the most. Banner controlling the Hulk first seemed like a stupid gag, but I grew to absolutely love it. Completely off the wall but still sticks to it so well. That's when you know a subversion of expectations is really good. I wonder how they're gonna deal with the 5 year time jump for the rest of the MCU too. Splitting one REALLY packed year in-universe into 6 years may work, but I have a feeling they may do 3 in-universe years in one year and 3 the next or even 2 per year for 3 years. You gotta remember too that Parker is still in high school, but I wouldn't be surprised if half his original year is 5 years older and replaced by new people, the ones who survived 5 years ago and are entering his grade now. They may choose not to address it, but the fact that half the universe it 5 years younger will likely have some serious side-effects. Even beyond that, the whole world will still be in disarray. Things have changed, and people need to adapt to and overcome those changes. The world won't just go back to normal overnight. I'm sure many people are still dead or didn't get brought back by the stones because planes likely fell out of the sky, killing everyone who didn't vanish and likely just reintegrating the vanished people at the bottom of the ocean of in the middle of a jungle. The government seemed to basically collapse for some time. Half of politicians dead (though the other half likely didn't feel any loss), martial law won't work since the military and military families were hit just as hard, and so on. Someone commented how they found it hard to believe that things would go so poorly because half supply and half demand in most regards except for things like water, but the crippling loss that the whole world felt and chaos that followed likely did just as much damage as the actual snap itself. It was cool that Thanos realized this but, instead of joining the side of the Avengers, decided that he should end all life and restart it in his vision. It can be seen as selfish since he kinda advertised himself as a god there, but I'm pretty sure he intended his death too. He was never a true villain. He was a man with a cause and the will that can defy all odds. He wanted what he thought was best, but was still a major antagonist who killed many.

To the forum mod/admins: if anyone reports this comment to try and force you to read over it and you still haven't seen it yet. Just snip it entirely. No one deserves to have this move spoiled. There shouldn't be anything wrong with it, but spoilers are racing all around. I'm lucky I dodged them since I just saw it yesterday.

Great film, really great. The previous one felt a bit too forced (battle battle get the stones) while this one had a really intresting story.

They spent like a solid 30 minutes going over "Okay don't interact with your past self, don't do anything, just get in and get out and we'll put everything back exactly how it was so everything's gonna be okay" in various ways. And then they end up just straight irreparably murdering people from their past and nothing bad happens. And then they still return the infinity stones to the past for some reason? Why bother? Apparently nothing changes no matter what you do, even if you kill yourself or the person responsible for the entire set of current events.

Also Captain America picking up the hammer didn't surprise me too much, it just wants people who are "worthy," right? But the lightning, I thought it was pretty well established in like Ragnarok that Thor's hammer wasn't necessary for his lightning, it only helped him channel his own power. So how frick did Cap pull lightning out of that?
