Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Pressing Space/Jump in Mid-air Randomly Slows You Down

Yesterday, I've noticed something strange when I was playing in one of my worlds. I've discovered that pressing space or the jump button while in mid-air randomly slows you down. I don't know how or what causes it to happen, but from what I know so far, is that I've tried pressing space after running off a platform. Sometimes it works, but sometimes it doesn't. The same thing might happen with any effect. I haven't found any other way to do this. I don't know if this is new or not, but I'm really confused as to what's going on here, because this wasn't a thing before. I'm not sure if anyone else experienced this kind of issue or not. https://wiki.everybodyedits.com/images/6/60/012_inquisitive

Edit: Apparently, it can work without the platform. I just press space anywhere. I'm not 100% sure, but it kind of works, I guess. It's really hard to explain here. :/

What do you mean by slowing you down? Could it just be a lag spike or something caused by sending a movement message?

I mean when I'm running and fall off of something without stopping, I press space and it slows down my movement in the air. It doesn't work 100% of the time, but I know it works.
Oh, and it can only be done in a limited amount of times, so you have to re-join the world to do it again. (Idk how many times until it stops working, it could be randomized.)
I don't think the lag spikes are likely the reason why this causes this weird bug to happen, but perhaps it may have something to do with sending movement messages.

Edit: Thinking back about what someone told me yesterday, it appears the bug only occurs with the arrow keys.

I think it is because you can't hold 3 buttons at once when playing with arrow keys. If you hold up or down when running off an edge and you press space you are holding 3 buttons atleast for a small time. You hold space, left/right and up/down. It then stops reacting to one of the buttons which would be right/left so it can use space. I don't know what exactly causes this, but one time in a world I was talking about that with a staffmember and it's something to do with flash player.

I am 99% sure those are lag spikes.

Movement is not controlled by your internet connection/speed. Movement is fully client-sided. There is no way to execute jump code while you are not on ground.
The only reasonable explanation is lag spikes.

But the same thing happens even when I don't press up or down; However, I'm starting to be convinced from what you and others just said, because they seemed to make perfect sense.
Now I'm starting to question if the hardware issues with my keyboard has anything to do with the bug or not.

ABDEFGHIJKLNOPQRSUW like that? That's weird. But I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about this particular glitch. In flash you usually can't hold 2 arrow keys and the spacebar without 1 not working.

ABCEFIJKLNOPQRTUVWXYZ Isn't that the same issue, some combinations of 3 keys not working? It seems to be an issue at the keyboard level.

The multiple key pressing issue is a hardware limitation. Check this post explaining it.

Oh, I just realized the hardware issues may not have anything to do with the bug. Sorry, I should've said this earlier. //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/sad

Re: Pressing Space/Jump in Mid-air Randomly Slows You Down

There was a setting "Enable AZERTY keys" before the bindings were added, could that solve it?
it said something like "on some computers pressing three keys doesn't work, check this to use different keys to move"

also I tried to recreate the ghost key bug, but I couldn't, what am I doing wrong?

Get a different keyboard. Cheap, low quality keyboards have the highest chance of having ghosting. If you're unsure if your purchase will demonstrate keyboard ghosting, please contact customer service for the store you are attending and ask for a keyboard that does ghost keys.
