Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

forum time 5 minutes off from actual time?

look at your current time displayed on the forums (go to Profile and look at "Time format" or make a post and look at the timestamp)
compare it to your computer's time (if it is set properly) or any online time such as that on timeanddate.com
for me the forum time seems to be 5 minutes behind?

Huh, time format says 11:39 yet my phone says 11:44. That's a peculiar... thing, not sure if bug is the right word for it. I wonder where the forums gets its time from?

the forums, like any computer, have their own internal clock. Over the past few years it's drifted quite a bit, but I installed and ran NTP which should keep the clock in sync now.

EDIT: nvm it works for new posts but doesnt fix the timestamp for the old ones.. thank you diff
i guess that means theres a 4-5 minutes gap in time somewhere, can we find it?

I'm assuming old times won't change, but new posts should now show the correct time (which works for me //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile)

Forum posts are stored as happening at X point in time, if the clock was off when it wrote down what the time was, it'll be off forever.

This is not a joke, do not joke about this sort of thing to scare off someone!

edit: I posted, and the forum time clearly says 12:05 the same as my time. It's not 5 minutes behind!

I wish people actually read through the topic before posting

So does it mean the forums now have a more accurate internal clock compared to my Windows 7?

If you're using another website for your system clock, then yes.

Depends on whether or not your Win7 syncs up. I think most computers do nowadays.

Clock drifted by 139.234743 sec so TaskManager wins the prize there, it's back on track now. Must have forgotten to actually enable the NTP service last time.

Re: forum time 5 minutes off from actual time?

You don't have the same issue my time is flawless now. If the time is off in hours then set your time zone in your profile. This problem was the time being off in minutes.

EDIT: See, flawless

also @everyone who is posting just to see the post time, stop. you can see what the forums believe is the current time in your profile, in the "Time Format" section.
