Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Max speed

What is the max speed moving horizontally without the use of the physics of action items?
I need it to make music so can you put it in b/s (blocks per second)?

Re: Max speed

Vitalijus how do I get the speed from that? There is no effect for that but only with keyboard, as I mentioned, no usage of action which means no effects

Re: Max speed

I'm thinking the best way to measure default speed is to have a long row of timed doors or gates along a floor, with a right arrow placed to the left of them.  Starting on that arrow with the doors/gates solid, hold right until they go unsolid, and move right until they turn solid again, trapping you.  Mark the spot and count how far you went in 5 seconds.

Doing this, I got 203 blocks in 5 seconds, which is 40.6 blocks a second.  This is slightly off tho, as the arrow isn't enough to get you instantly at full speed, but it's about as close as you can get besides timing a perfect jump with a few more right arrows.  I'm gonna guess the actual max speed is roughly 41 or 42 blocks a second.

Oh, this is technically using action items, but not in a way that sends you over max default speed //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue

EDIT: Tried several times with a jump start, got 215.25 distance a few times with most being shorter, but just managed to get a 215.75.  That would be 43.15 blocks per second- a bit higher than I thought!  If it's possible to get an even 216 blocks, that'd be 43.20 blocks.

For falling down?

I ran a few tests in a tall world using a similar testing system for max speed and got 418 blocks in 5 seconds, or 83.6 blocks a second, however a jump start doesn't seem to bring you to terminal velocity instantly.  Using a downward boost to start me off, which I'm unsure if it brings me over max default falling speed or not, I was able to reach 450 blocks in 5 seconds, or 90 blocks a second.

Had to use a portal to wrap me up to do this, as a tall world is only 400 blocks tall //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue

Downwards portal fall increased the down velocity by 135% though, as we all know how portal boosting works.

I ran a few tests with a jump start without portal and a jump start with a portal, and I'm getting the same results.. off by about a half block probably due to portals skipping you ahead half a block.
