Keys open doors and close gates when you touch them, for about 5 or 6 seconds, and then the doors close again and the gates open again. However, this affects everyone in the world if someone touches the key. This opens some possibilities of keys, but keeps others closed.
Much like switches only affect you, I would like to see keys that only affect you, added to EE.

For those who want to know how this could be used for levels in EE, here's an idea. Key doors are liked timed doors, except you can decide (or rather the player decides) when the door opens, or when the gate closes. Player touches a key, then they have a certain amount of time before it closes again. This can be used for things like timed minis. Normal keys can do this. However, if we had keys that only affected you, you could use these keys without disturbing others' gameplay.

Hmmm, I like the idea, but I'd hate to see 6 more keys, doors, and gates added to the already messy action tab.
Would it also work, to add a new type of switch that works off of a timer? Or is that far off from what you wanted to do.

No, I wouldn't mind a switch with a timer. That sounds cool too, and would probably have similar if not the same uses as what I'm suggesting.

I would go with this idea, but I feel like it could get confusing. Loads of people triggering keys just for themselves, while others trigger the same thing globally for them. ehh idk about that.

The doors/gates triggered just for themselves would look different and be independent from the globally triggered doors/gates. Global keys wouldn't affect doors/gates that only affect you.

Why is this still not a thing??? I have a world that relies on keys for certain mechanics but with other players hitting keys it will basically break the world. Please add an option to make keys "Everyone/Only You", thank you very much.
I'm guessing this probably won't be a thing in the current version of EE (there are some graphical things that would have to change to make the difference obvious), but as we are changing that anyway in the rEEboot, I guess it might happen then
