Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Propably smallest fast portalless bugless switch reseter

some of you, propably know some about switch reseters
I wanted to found smallest enogh fast one, Then i found this

First switch reseter

2x4 per ID
It was good enough to reset switches, but it wasn't sufficient for me, then i built this

Second switch reseter

2x3 per ID
smaller, but had a bug, that prevented me to use that in my maps:

Bug

Then i tried to find better way to build switch reseters on forum, and i found it in that post, and I test that, and i hadn't any bugs.

Third switch reseter

2x3 per ID
I found, that that's smallest fast enought bugless switch reseter, but then, my friend -2B55B5G show me that:

Fourth "Stairway" switch reseter

3x2 per ID
he said that he made it from "gosha's reseter" but make it without portals, but it had a small bug - If you hold W (in left one) you stop at the second switch segment and then on third, fourth...
second one was worser (that right), because it had same bug as "Second switch reseter"
I don't know why, but after changing direction from upwards, to downwards, i had idea to change direction from vercital, to horizontal, and it works

Fifth "Horizontal stairway" switch reseter

2x3 per ID
Now I'll say, why this reseter is smaller than "Third switch reseter"

First counting

If you look at the green marked blocks, in one segment, you'll count 9 blocks.
Why 9, (not 6) because to place second segment near first one, you need oneblock of gap, otherwise it wouldn't work.

Second counting

If you count that reseter like first one, then you get one block less (8), because it has shorter edge.
I didn't tried to test witch reseter is faster, but now i proved, that Fifth one is smallest.
If you find any bug or find smaller fast switch reseter, then tell me.

EDIT:
On this map, I built 3 different reseters,
I'll be glad, if anyone would measure precisely the time of each.

EDIT 2:
I find even smaller switch reseter

Horizontal stairway switch reseter without gaps

I tried to make it without gaps, and then it worked. I still testing that, but I think it's bugless.
it's haven't gaps, so with counting like in previous reseters, it have 6 blocks per ID
counting normally it have too 6 blocks per ID 2x3

EDIT 3: I tested that, and it looks like no gap version works same as orginal version

EDIT 4: New even smaller switch reseter, made by Tirlamo (that mean Tirlamo give that thing this form)
it use portals but not many

12x3 per 9 ID's

it it's a lot faster that any else if all are turned off, but quite slow if all on, but still enough fast to name if fast switch reseter
it's on this map: http://everybodyedits.com/games/PWcA_eTWEgcUI

Tirlamo did bigger example here https://everybodyedits.com/games/PWaOBdRsFLcEI, but instead switches he used coins

Re: Propably smallest fast portalless bugless switch reseter

I think that's probably the fastest and smallest reseter in EE. If you can find even small and fast, you're awesome //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/cool

Re: Propably smallest fast portalless bugless switch reseter

Wow... 25% smaller than the standard resetter... If this really doesnt have any chance of failing then this is great :O

I wonder why nobody has found this before? With such small designs I would have thought that everything would have been tested by now //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue

Re: Propably smallest fast portalless bugless switch reseter

Yes, most of them are past switch resetters. He isn't claiming to have designed them, just that he was testing different modifications to standard designs which have all been done previously apart from 5 and their final design (which is what he is showcasing). The previous switch resetters are only included to show what the original designs were, and to compare the new designs against.

That method is extremely slow, specially when you have a lot of switches turned on.

The objective of this topic is to show small and fast switch reset systems for levels that constantly need them. Just imagine the huge switch-dependent levels using your system.

Re: Propably smallest fast portalless bugless switch reseter

After a while of researching, I've made a system where you can use any gravity or hold any buttons and the system will always work well.
Well, with gravity effect to right, it's kinda slow, but the important thing is that it works
OpjkLdB.png
^^^^ The gate 5 is the exit from the system.

not quite...

Just because it works doesn't mean it's an efficient system. We can exemplify this statement through the visual below:
Camx21O.png
Although this system is compact and simple to build, the reset speed is greatly burdened through the existence of off switches.

In regards to your proposed system, I ran a few checks and discovered that it is much slower than Trytu's and has an affinity for manual stoppage (in other words, key presses that delay the reset process). Through these characteristics, your system is not viable.

However, this does not mean you should stop looking for reset mechanisms. Perhaps you will develop a system that improves upon Trytu's design.

I've just done it if you read the post above you. It's not as good as Trytu's, but better than my first one

What is so insulting at quoting you?
That face was for the resetting systems that were too complicated

Re: Propably smallest fast portalless bugless switch reseter

I'm gonna need some help setting up the horizontal reset.

I use your resetter a lot in a world of mine, and I just can't figure out where to put the entrance portal. I can't make it so it always has a constant velocity bc i'd have to change too many systems, and it has to be able to start from either the top or the bottom

here's a picture for reference (as you can see the starting portal is in different spots, and i can't figure out what works

here's an example of the system breaking due to a weird starting portal

secondly i had same bug
thirdly, when i put boost portal earlier, that bug dissapear, i hope i helped

No its not?

Well maybe if all switches are on then it would be slightly faster, but its much slower if the switches don't need resetting
