Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Re: What are we going to do with the forums after this EE has shut down?

As much as I'd like to see an old topic cleanup, my attempts seemed to fail when I searched for and flagged old forum games (either that, or I posted on them to mess with people). We have plenty of outdated topics that aren't relevant anymore that are there simply because nobody notices them.

Isn't that the point? What harm do these old topics do to you when you don't notice them? (Sure, cleanliness and all that, but I'm not sure it applies to a body of information such as a forum)

Re: What are we going to do with the forums after this EE has shut down?

I guess the main things that I can think of are that it might be harder to search for topics if there isn't any way to exclude the old version of EE, and that people may sometimes gravedig old topics so they might be mixed in with new topics in the front page of the subforums.

I guess it's not a huge deal, but it might still be worth it separate them somehow (not sure if this forum thing supports creating subforums within subforums, but if it does then that might be a good way to do it, having a 'Pre reboot' section at the top of the relavent subforums, which would I guess also allow you to selectively search only new or only old topics)

I think we should just clear all the old topics with the exception of Picture of Yourself, the BBCode guide, and Intro thread, and the Forum/Game Business as they will all become irrelevant. EE is getting a 100% fresh start, and the forums should as well.

well when you put it like that, I guess it makes sense. We could at least archive the old stuff or something. like on an entirely different "site" like archive.forums.ee.com or something silly.

Re: What are we going to do with the forums after this EE has shut down?

I really disagree with getting rid of the old topics, it makes sense to start fresh on subforums specific to the game such as Worlds, World Creation, Game Suggestions etc. but they might still be useful so should probably still be easily findable. IMO moving them to an old section within their respective subforums would be the best option, that way they are hidden but still only a click away should you need to find something.

And as for the 'new game should mean new forums' thing, yes this client is being written from scratch but that doesn't mean that its a completely different game... I'm thinking of it more like an Everybody Edits 2, incompatible with the old EE but still the same game, the same as other games like Civilization, Counter Strike, Grand Theft Auto, etc.
