Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Damn right it's justified.
One bot to rule them all, one bot to find them. One bot to bring them all... and with this cliché blind them.

People wouldn't use adBlock if online advertisement wasn't so aggressive, I shouldn't need to close 10 popups every time I click something in some websites, and advertisers shouldn't try to track me down, if anything adBlock should "get smarter", since many ads now bypass it and many websites block adBlock users nowadays. Aggressive advertisement isn't justified, adBlock is.

obviously it is, lol
i disable adblock on websites that place ads in a nice manner without spamming them everywhere
such as this forum, but for some reason ads here are still broken for me
I don't have any meat to add to my post so here's some vegetables.

I never use AdBlock because I think its morally wrong, I see it as similar to riding a train without paying, you are using someone elses service and intentionally preventing them from earning money from it.
Saying that, I guess it is alright in the rare case the the ads actually inhibit your ability to use the site, or if they are those terrible ads that start playing sound in the background after a few minutes, but in my experience that doesn't happen very often.
IMO if you do block ads, it should be a blacklist rather than a whitelist so you only block them where it prevents you from using the site, and don't block the ads in websites that place them more sparingly.

I use my adblocker to block adblock-blocker pop-ups, and "please turn off your adblock" banners.
They are very intrusive to my experience, so i have no choice but to use an adblocker.

I'll do whatever I want with my browser software. I'm not going to be purchasing anything from (often spurious) advertisements, so it effectively costs them more money to pay for wasting my bandwidth.

it effectively costs them more money
Yes, buying advertisements to pay the site is the point
Most of the time nobody buys stuff from TV commercials either but there's a huge amount of money flowing even though it effectively costs them more money to pay for it. They know what they're buying.

Don't have a big problem with advertisement in general, but some sites make it just unbearable.
Have setup some white listed sites though (like these forums) since they place their ads pretty nicely without much annoying features.
