How can people speedrun Sonic the Hedgehog games when Sonic the Hedgehog is the fastest thing alive? I get speedrunning Shadow the Hedgehog for the PS2/GC because Shadow is weighed down by the gun he carries but how is it possible? Is Sega Lying to us?

Maybe the problem here is the ambiguous usage of the word "fastest". Does he always maintain the highest average speed out of all living things? Or is his maximum speed just higher than anyone else's? If it's the latter, I'd say that he can go however fast he wants to go and speedrunners simply try to push his speed to the maximum.

Sonic 2 was the first game I ever played (and beat). Speedrunning it is basically not running into stuff. Mania is a fun game. I want to do something similar to it in EE.
