Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

do we really need stuff from the Renaissance era? most people want to rid themselves of their 2012 posts and anything so old just clutters the forums up tbh

B-but legacy posts.
Keep the old topics tbh
The cringe is worth it; it shows who we used to be, and how we've grown (hopefully)
Also provides some good laughs.
Besides, I feel like something important would be lost if we just threw the past 7 years away because we were occasionally silly.
Embrace the cringe, it's part of who you are.

It isnt just spam though, a lot of the time there is more meaningful discussion to be had, especially in the B&P, Rooms and Suggestions subforums

I've recently added discussion to older threads in room subforums so I would certainly say they shouldn't be deleted or locked
As far as I'm aware Diff doesn't delete stuff unless it breaks the rules or contains personal info that you don't want there anymore so I doubt it'll happen

Uh, ok?
we stole an entire database, jumped ship, and created a new "official" forum.
now we're going to delete everything?
puh leez
No we missed a spot, we missed the entire Introductions section and like one of Taken's ridiculously huge long stories in Creative.
Although Atilla did give me the parts of the database we're missing, I still haven't stitched that together with our current database.
Maybe I should just set it up as a separate read-only archive.
Then again maybe I'd just use that as an excuse to never actually merge it into the real database.

wouldn't it literally just be
1) loop through topics/posts
2) compare topic/post contents to see if it's in db (or even have removed the bulk of them beforehand)
3) insert topic/post the normal way without some infos from old db (id, poster_id, whatever) and only fixing it later if you feel the need to?
since they'll have the correct times on them i don't think it should be a big issue? is there something i'm missing?
Offline
Yeah, that's basically it. Some missed posts because people were given ownership of their old posts and some of them made edits to their old posts, but for 99% of it, yeah.
