tbh this just came to my mind:
wouldnt this game appeal much more to the kids nowadays if EE used actual emojis that are popular today? think about the emoji movie, it was quite successful
i, for one, would love me some wheelchair emojis running around ♿ ♿ ♿

None of those look like flowers, though.

they're in flower-like shapes though - you can only go through so many spiked auras before they start to blend

IMO it would look a bit weird having them have a green stem, all the other auras are basically clouds surrounding the player.

Its not that it couldn't be animated (we already have some auras that aren't), its that you can't really make something like a stem look like a cloud or whatever as you can't really preserve any detail, all of the other auras are made of fairly simple shapes.
