Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

While we're at it, let's find some autoplay attribute and set it to false for good measure.
Autoplay but mute by default
Can set to not auto-play to enable sound from the start.
Thank you eleizibeth ^

Well, if someone clicks play, they'd probably be OK with sound.
I bring up the not-autoplay because someone a while ago was upset with the lag from peoples' giant images. My internet doesn't really handle nice big webm downloads, so I figured on voicing the opinion.

video tag in mozilla notes a preload and autoplay option.
I'm for the no preload or autoplay option, as I represent the interests of folks with crappy internet! Of course, you could also say "screw you plebeians, set your browser settings to prevent autoload" and that would achieve a similar effect.
(addon for firefox)
Mozilla also notes the muted tag, another relevant suggestion.

No preload, no autoplay, no safari, yes mute. Good luck finding a place that allows permanent hotlinking to webms though.

Imgur, and the people who will use webm will probably have their own host.

Interesting. I guess the video tag would be just about identical to the youtube tag, just with different markup in between it all.
So, video/webm support is on the docket? Or just webm?

I already suggested this before
I need this feature because I'm uploading my videos to my website and I don't want to use services like the You Tube.

Mod edit: merged video tag suggestion here

Shouldn't be so hard to add mp4 support for videos.

should produce this html
<video controls preload="metadata"> <source src="http://gosha.eejesse.net/files/2018-03-16_11-42-42.mp4" type="video/mp4"> Your browser does not support the video tag. Watch video <a href="http://gosha.eejesse.net/files/2018-03-16_11-42-42.mp4">here</a>. </video>

Why can’t you just upload it to YouTube lol

Why can’t you just upload it to YouTube lol
i could. But it's sometimes easier to share links instead of uploading them on youtube.
It's an additional step that can be avoided.

Understandable. Idk how difficult this’d be to implement but I guess it could be useful for people who don’t want their videos publicized on YouTube or just don’t want to spend the time/bandwidth uploading it

This was suggested a couple of times before. And I still support the idea!
