so we can chat in ukrainian, russian, serbian, croatian, chinese, japanese, korean, vietnamese, arabic, hebrew, etc.

this was a joke post in reply to soniety's post, just saying

if people really want to do bad in the chat they dont need unicode to be able to do it
yet absence of unicode complicates the communication for people that dont use latin alphabet languages

I see the reason why it was disabled, and I am staying neutral with whether you add this or not.

You could chat very well in englisch before. What should change it now? If you want to speak in Chinese, then go to discord or anywhere else. The game should be kept child-friendly and (!) international.

Being able to talk in e.g. Chinese would bring to the game Chinese people. This means moderation will have to trade with translations, the forums would become international in the meaning of everyone writes in his preferred language. Also what Atilla said above; unicode has many "invisible" characters that can break the entire chat system for you (or at least there are rumours about that).

Chat evading would be another problem:

What's wrong with characters specifically like €, –, —, etc. that made everything outside ISO 8859-1 disabled?! I don't think it's intentional.

I'm known as "haslo" in EE. Also, I refuse to play EEU.

I remember the good times when Linus21 would spam Chinese and it would crash the world, booting everyone out from it. I still want this though, just as long as the bugs are fixed. Hoping for EEU with unicode support.
