The trick resides in lag. The challenge itself impossible to beat in exactly 2 seconds but there's a small delay in curse for lagged users which get the advantage.

I found that to be the case, but if you do lag then you win, but are still killed just after (I didn't count these as wins), so I did it a few more times and managed to win one without dying 
(and I have a stable internet connection and a fast computer so although there may be a small difference between ping when I started and ended, I wouldn't think it would be significant)

It's not that the level is hard. Your level takes even more to complete than mine. It's that it's hard to stay awake for 16 days "24/7" playing the level.
