if anyone's feeling particularly nitpicky can we discuss how google assumes every thread has <= 25 posts and <= 25 authors? I mean if we could get rid of that information I'd be okay with that as well.

Google seems to have a very interesting implementation, which checks for patterns within the page's source to determine posts and authors after confirming that the page is a forum.
However, the forums can easily add the amount of replies to the description, as the tags will be obviously generated via PHP. So other platforms don't have to struggle with replies.

From the looks of it its because the forums are split into pages, so it only takes the posts from the first page (also google doesnt see the page's code as thats PHP)
Edit: Unless you mean HTML (which isnt code!!!!!), in which case maybe

And maybe it is code, after some more googling its not code by the actual definition of code ('program instructions' - its definately not a programming language), but some other websites seem to refer to it as code, so maybe
