Although I do agree with the above, IMO it's better to have things that mean you can do things you physically couldn't do before than things that just make things more compact

Well, in some cases I would agree, but there are cases where efficiency allows you to do more things than the new feature would. This is because you can increase the complexity of your systems and make things of a much bigger scale. Then again I haven't really seen people push the current system to its limits, so maybe people won't properly utilise the improvements in efficiency anyway. But I suppose I don't really even play the game so idk.
