Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

It would be pretty cool if there was such a block that you could change the color of in a color-wheel menu.
The block could have a unique texture (like wool in Minecraft) to tell what block it is, and it would save people the trouble of finding the right block for the background color they want when doing pixel art.
There might be some problems with adding this block, though. It might make traditional EE pixel art less popular, or might get overused in worlds to the point where other blocks aren't worth getting.
I'll leave it to the community to debate about it. Would it be a good addition to EE? Or will it make other blocks pointless to buy?

If we added blocks based off hex codes, we would have over sixteen-million new new block combos. That's not nearly as bad as signs but I imagine it's rather data-sucking.
well 0-255 for 3 channels would just be three bytes... so I mean it'd be a bother but not a terribly huge bother. Using them as giant patches of the same block would be chill. Making every block in the world some fancy gradient would be impossible lol

having limited blocks adds to the fun of getting creative with building worlds
besides, what would you even use it for?

It would mainly be used for pixel art and as a block that can be used for several different level themes, basically the same way you would use any other block.
Also, the block doesn't have to be a data eater. The color could just be its own data tag, like the portal/switch ID's. Again, it would be the same texture for every color of the block.
It doesn't have to ruin pixel art, either. The colors could be kept at a fixed brightness and saturation so they differ from blocks like minerals or glass. I didn't say it shouldn't have limits to what colors you could pick. In a nutshell, it would just be another block pack but in one adjustable block.
