Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

SEVEN THOUSAND SPOT

seven thousandth post

//forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile

I would like to discuss a matter of incredible urgency. Many of you have heard the term, "straw that broke the camel's back," but what does it really mean? If you think about it, how would a single straw affect the outcome so greatly? If we took pieces of straw, one by one, and put them on a camel, would its fall be affected by the weight of the straw, or merely the stamina of the organism? This isn't as simple as putting drops of water in a cup and measuring how many drops it takes to overfill. A camel is a living thing, and it has multiple variables that may affect its decision. "The straw that broke the camel's back", in my opinion, is open to physical and metaphysical discussion, for example, "What does it mean to break?" I would like to view your speculations below. Thank you.

Re: SEVEN THOUSAND SPOT

To discuss this, we first need to define "the last straw" here.

Let's say "the straw that broke the camel's back" is Straw X. If we subtracted X by 1 then put that amount of straw on the camel's back, its back would eventually break even though we didn't put Straw X on the camel's back. Does Straw X happen to always be the last straw placed on the camel's back before the back breaks? Or, is the definition influenced by other factors we need to consider?

Re: SEVEN THOUSAND SPOT

Well first off, why do you have a camel - and why are you placing straws on it's back? I think this is incredibly inhumane and PETA should be alerted.

Wow. Atilla, it's just an expression. You aren't supposed to take it so literally.

An expression of pure hatred and disdain for domesticated animals, no less.
I think the camel is a creature perfectly capable of experiencing pain and distress, and these things should be taken quite seriously!

Re: SEVEN THOUSAND SPOT

It's almost like it's a metaphor, and as such isn't meant to be applied literally.

Having said that, you could take some liberties and model the camel's back as a horizontal piece of bone with the straw providing a load in the centre of bone, acting towards the ground. Then you'd realise that you still have no idea how to calculate the breaking load of the bone but it doesn't matter because the bone would snap after a certain load was applied and that's the point that I may be trying to make idk please lock this
