Regarding rules in-game and forum rules..

First of all, in-game rules state:

Secondly forum rules state:

Now that is mentioned I want to say these two rules are very similar yet, aren't on the same based platform.
In-game you can easily cut it off which allows you to see inappropriate words mentioned in chat.
Forums there isn't a way to censor the inappropriate words mentioned in chat. EXCEPTION: YOU TAG IT!

With tagging stuff in-forums it creates more of a hassle and it shouldn't be that way.. It should simply be no inappropriate words at all in-game and on forums or you can state inappropriate words all you want with no consequences.
I don't think there should be a in-between as there is a big hassle and it causes a lot of issues..

So with all that being stated I think censorship rule on the forums should be analyzed over and in-game;

Best things to do: Remove the censorship completely and don't harass players about their freedom of speech.

Forum rules and game rules should have a same based platform.

EE and these forums have always had a distinction, administratively. Same goes for their rules; they're going to be different.

I do agree, however, that an option to turn off swear filters would be nice.

Yes it would greatly be appreciated in all circumstances since whoever created the rules didn't do a great job on them.
Since, you can get punished on forums for swearing without tagging it and not get punished in-game.

we do. That's the whole point with the tagging as well. The option to make the tagged content always visible and to turn off the filter (I think)

italkalot the central idea is that we have a censor (so does the game). And we try to prevent people from dodging the filter. (hey so does the game). There are a couple options for biding the rule provided one takes the time to keep track.

Are you suggesting that we use the exact same rules?

guys this was all discussed way back when the system was created but it's whatever

so then the big one that's all too forgotten: layers of spoilers or trigger warnings do not permit other rules to be broken. The trigger reflects only language. (no flaming, nsfw imagery, etc would be allowed inside or out of a trigger tag)
