Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

World Service

World.Service

An always-online service for accessing and synchronising historical versions of your worlds.
Web Interface | CLI Interface (binary) | CLI Interface (source)

FAQ
  • I need to recover a world, how can I find a copy of my world and restore it?
It's a fairly simple process, you can view and download the historical archived versions of your worlds through the web-interface detailed above.
You will be prompted to enter your username upon visiting the site, after which you'll be presented with minimap previews of the archived worlds.

If you wish to download a local copy of your entire world archive, press save. I would recommend using 7-ZIP to view and extract the contents of the archive.
If you are inexperienced with, or are unable to use the command-line interface, you aren't required at all to download any copy in order to restore the worlds.

If you wish to restore the worlds through the web-interface: select the world you wish to restore by clicking the minimap, and then press the sync button in the upper-right corner.
If you wish to restore the worlds through the command-line interface, navigate to the directory where you extracted the JSON world file, and enter the following command below:

    World.CLI.exe sync -u:email -a:password -i:t:PWInputFile -t:PWTargetEI

If you wish to modify or view the worlds prior to restoring them, I'd highly suggest you check out EEditor, which fortunately now offers this functionality. (Thank you, Capasha!)

  • What is the functionality of the command-line interface?
If you wish, there are a few other commands you can use with the command-line interface that may be helpful.

You can import the world file and generate a minimap of the world.

    World.CLI.exe create -t:minimap -i:PWTargetEI -o:minimap.png

You can create & save a local copy of the latest saved version of a world.

    World.CLI.exe create -t:exportjson -i:PWTargetEI -o:world.json
  • Is there any way that I can download an archive without using the web-interface?
Yes. It's as easy as making a simple GET request to the underlying API.

Re: World Service

World Service is currently undergoing it's bi-annual mirroring process, although expedited due to potential security issues with the current hosting provider, coupled with their unprofessional response.
The mirroring process should be completed within the next ~48 hours; during the interim, the archival process will continue, however the front-end (including the API) will likely experience downtime.

EDIT: It's back up and running, merely hours later. //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/big_smile

Re: World Service

Yes, only that it's no longer hosted on Atilla's server, but Jesse's VPS.

Yes, although there's plenty of outages since mono is trash.

I would recommend for people to create their own local revisions, optimally. The service serves as a potential fallback in absence of such.
