Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Re: can you trust google?

I trust Google. I'm no longer need to search for what I like, because the ads show me new things every time I visit a site.

Google got pwned recently for disproportionally promoting its own products, but eh. Trust or no trust, it's still better than Bing.

Re: can you trust google?

It's not leaving me with the best first impression. It did work after a reload but even then the results are kinda sorta bad compared to DDG's Certified Results and Instant Answers. First two results aren't even slightly related, and I don't actually see them anywhere on bing or yahoo's results.

Re: can you trust google?

Well, I don't typically require/desire privacy in what I search for, although if I did the best solution would involve using Tor, rather than relying on any service that explicitly promotes confidentiality to truly respect and defend their promises.

I've been explicitly using Google for anything in relation to programming or technology, since Google's programming results are far more relevant and accurate than the results I'd get from DuckDuckGo with the same query.
For anything else, I've been using DuckDuckGo, as I'd prefer not having advertisers building up an inaccurate profile based on any miscellaneous queries, in which they usually tend to manipulate further search results with.

Same. With a lot of programming stuff you can find more relevant results by switching over to google. Fortunately, DDG's !Bangs make this Easier Than Ever!

Re: can you trust google?

I used another engine before, I don't remember the name. Then when it stopped working I found out  that searx was added to privacytools.io.
So I used it for a longer time, and I must agree it is crap. Duckduckgo seems better. I have used it before but the searches wasn't so good.
For programming searching I use Google with VPN. Because it give me the most correct information.

Re: can you trust google?

Google steals your information, Bing steals your information, Duckduckgo claims it doesn't but it does. Startpage is the way of the enlightened. Unless you want a half decent image search.

Half of that isn't even a policy, it's "hey you should care about this" and half of the actual policy is "most guys do X. We don't do X."

Trust me dude, I saw it on9 an infograph once. I didn't save it though cause I don't use that search engine, because of the duck at first.

Re: can you trust google?

this is the only infographic I was able to find about DDG, I did find another but it turns out it was just a version of this cropped down to a single panel.

was not able to find any non-infographic sources that say ddg tracks users either.
