Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Looking for good PC games

So it's the holidays and I've lost interest in the games I own. The obvious solution would be to go outside, except that I live in Britain and promise you that the stereotypes about British weather are 100% correct. There's also a finite amount of time one can spend outdoors.

I play/used to play BF3, BF4, Titanfall, Rocket League, CS:GO and MapleStory. I'm not particularly keen on 3D single-player RPG games like The Witcher 3 or Fallout 4, but I'm open to the concept.

What are your favourite PC games? What do you recommend I look into?

Re: Looking for good PC games

I play Red orchestra 2 and Left 4 dead 2 alot, if you like multiplayer FPS games you should check them out.
As for singleplayer idk... I can play games ranging from horror to FPS to visual novels so i'm not sure what to recommend... If you want any other recommendations from me you should say what you're interested in.

Have you ever tried any rogue-like games? 'Vagante' is still in development, and I've put over 90 hours into it.

There are 4 different game modes.
Standard -> Mouse+Keyboard, Tablet+Keyboard, Mouse only are the main ways to play. You move the cursor to the notes and click with the keyboard (or mouse) to the beat of the song
Mania -> Keyboard only. Stepmania really
Takio -> Keyboard only. You have to hit the notes coming in from the side either red or blue and you press the corresponding key. You have 2 red keys (inner) and 2 blue keys (outer rim)
Catch The Beat -> Keyboard only. You catch falling fruit onto your plate by moving with arrow keys.

Not the best explanations because I only play standard. All controls can be changed in options regarding the keyboard. There are a plethera of skins to choose from *have to download* and beatmaps *also have to download* but pretty fun game in all

Re: Looking for good PC games

Guild Wars 2.

It's a really good MMO that is frequently up in the top 3 list of MMOs that are listed along with FFXIV and WoW. The cool thing about GW2 is there are no monthly payments unlike FFXIV / WoW and the base game is entirely free, with limitations.

If you decide to try the game you can always ask me questions you might have.

Oh and also is a great time to start since the second expansion, Path of Fire, is out next month (September 22). You can buy the full version + the first expansion + the second expansion in a bundle. I don't know the details though.

There are three major game modes: Player vs. Enemy, Player vs. Player, and World vs. World vs. World. The first two are self-explanatory, while the third is where servers battle each other by trying to obtain as much land as possible before the skirmish ends. Skirmishes in WvW are basically "rounds" so to speak.

I've been playing for a year straight (started last year in August) and have participated in so many things. At first it may seem shallow when you're leveling your way to level 80, but the endgame is incredibly vast.

I'm also really devoted to the game's PvP. I placed 8th on the leaderboards last season, which is really hard to get.

Re: Looking for good PC games

Red orchestra 2 if you're into WW2 and realism
Insurgency if you're into modern FPS and slightly less realism (still a dozen of it)
Despite you saying you don't like Witcher/Fallout, you could try Skyrim, it gets really fun with mods
Personally I also sometimes play a few old games that are in my heart since childhood. At the moment the most prominent example would be UT2004. Seems fun to me even with just AI bots. Plus I play it with my dad and sister sometimes via LAN.
Could also try strategy games such as Civ IV and Civ V, idk about Civ VI tho.
Thats all I can think of right now
Typed on phone pls no hate

Re: Looking for good PC games

Insurgency is like a fresh, realistic take on CSGO, figured you might like it.
Garry's Mod has a **** ton of addons and different multiplayer gamemodes and it's a game anyone can enjoy. Plus it's really cheap.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 also comes with a vibrant workshop page, tons of mods to enchance the game, there's even a multiplayer mod. It's quite a relaxing game.
Hotline Miami 1 & 2 have a great story and gameplay, and 2 has a level editor with tons of community levels to choose from. Also insanely good soundtrack.
Cities: Skylines is currently the best city building game out there, a lot of mods, is great fun but does require a decent PC.
If you even remotely like racing games, try Motorsport Manager, IMO this is the pinnacle of managing games currently, so much depth, so much fun, and the UI is beautiful, as well as the game itself.
You can also look into the 2003-2006 NFS games (UG1, UG2, MW and carbon) if you like the concept of street racing games. They're the best NFS games, plenty of customization, tons of fun.
Far Cry 3 has a great story, and lots of depth too, it has a living, breathing open world full of activities.
Borderlands 2 is a great game, haven't played it too much but it's quite fun with a friend.
Civ 5 + All DLC is dirt cheap on sale, and is probably the best civ game currently. Civ games are about leading a civilization all the way from the ancient times to the future, with several victory conditions.
Those are some of my recommendations, feel free to ask me more about a game if you need help with it.

Freedom Planet - designed after the more traditional Sonic games, yet unique enough to provide a new experience. The artwork can be pretty cutesy

Currently playing through: Mega Man 1-6

Listen to my in-game music! (it's pretty much all I'm good at)

Re: Looking for good PC games

I havent been playing too many games when im on my own recently, but I usually play something if any of my friends are on. We've mostly been playing Factorio, Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, Terraria, Civ V and Space Engineers, depending on who is online. All but Keep Talking are also single player, although imo Civ V and Space Engineers arent really worth playing unless you have others to play with.

When I have occasionally been playing games on my own, Ive just sort of skipped between games, not really playing any for long, the games Ive spent more than a few mins playing being Factorio, Oxygen not Included, and Screeps.

From your list of games youve played, none of these seem like your sort of game though, but most of them are worth at least looking at, Factorio probably being my favourite.

I'm downloading it atm. 15% and only 350,000 files still to go.

I'll get back to you next week. ^^

EDIT: I'm trying the free games suggested in this thread first.

Hope you enjoy it!

Note that I never thoroughly played the free version. I was gifted the Heart of Thorns expansion which also comes with the full game.

For a starter profession I recommend playing Warrior but any of them work.

Once you get in-game, add "Abelysk" from the friend's list area and I'll add you back. I'll be glad to run over some tips and stuff to get you started.

I'd like to note GW2 is a really open game, and it isn't linearly forced into a specific path to go to. You can branch out and do anything you want to that you see--events, map completion, achievements, etc.

Re: Looking for good PC games

Trackmania Nations Forever, it's a fun game, and old too. It may be old, but the gameplay is still awesome. Online gameplay was incredible, had music during racing, online players that you can go through, and you can even paint your own car design.

It's also cool that you can add as much profiles as you can. You can even have fun doing local multiplayer by taking turns with your friend, or friends.

If you are curious, feel free to look at it.

Oh if this is still alive, I suggest Terraria because it's really fun and addicting, it'll be even more amazing when you realise it's getting its final major update by the 16th of May this year.
