Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Downwoot

OK before you downwoot this post let me explain myself.

A certain player named "hummerz" that will remain unnammed has banned me twice in the past because I said something like "I like this world / post", because I was supposed to woot it. So now when I see a post I don't like, i have to manually reply "I didn't like your post" and live in fear of waking up to being banned. Let me downwoot posts in which my name appears upside down or red. or upside down or read. Or another layer where it says "Didn't like this post" and the custom ones can be, for bug reports "Did not expereicnce this bug" and for forums like debates, it could be "Has the opposing opinion". //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/wink

Re: Downwoot

instead of just saying you dont like this post, tell ppl why you dont like this post. if you particularly like a post, woot it or add to it somewhat with a reply that goes beyond what a woot accomplishes. woots are supposed to be positive feedback and reputation has failed multiple times now because it just breeds toxicity

Re: Downwoot

It should just be like Reddit where you can upvote and downvote posts. Base vote count starts at 0, any number below 0 means more people downvoted than upvoted vice versa.

Reputation was a dumb system since it took users themselves into account not their posts.

Half of the time, the downvoted comment in a reddit thread is one that makes a simple mistake or makes a bad argument. This community is already punishing enough for those on the bottom of the hierarchy, so let's keep it from going any further.

While this makes sense, it doesn't make sense for new users. This "rule" isn't communicated anywhere, even though warnings are still issued.

pls add it to the rule section so people like myself don't unintentionally mess up

EDIT: yes.

reputation was a good way to make people play your levels for the +rep win screenshot

Yeah. That's what I do, but I just make up the reasoning every time to avoid getting banned.

Re: Downwoot

what do you mean by "make up the reasoning"? are you unable to articulate why you dislike things? if you cant, maybe you dont have much a say in criticisms about these things  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Re: Downwoot

I think the main issue of rep was that it was targeted at users, rather than posts, and as a result, it just felt too much like a "hey I don't like him let's -rep" or "hey I like him let's +rep" instead of "this post is/is not relevant and constructive"

Who the hell are you and why are you a mod? Actually I just make things up, you know? It adds to the overall quality of the forum and encourages synergetic, productive, constructive, reproductive, conductive, conversations, and helps nurture and flourish intrapersonal relationships inside the everybody edits workplace.

Re: Downwoot

I suggest you read through some old threads complaining about rep if you've forgotten why the ability to downwoot or downrep or dislike was a bad idea.

Here's one that probably triggered the disabling of rep.

One bot to rule them all, one bot to find them. One bot to bring them all... and with this cliché blind them.

Re: Downwoot

It's Hummerz fault. If he didn't create that thread then we would still have rep.

well this topic exists, so...

But it's a bad idea, better return reputations like Onjit said.
