well typically if running windows there's an alert during boot about low or damaged battery, no clue about linux
should probably replace it immediately or remove it and use the charger, instead of going "lol ill replace it later"

would have probably burnt down my house if i wasn't awake. 21st century, what a futuristic time to be alive
