Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Re: What's the problem with religion?

Nah thats moral law its different then ceremonial law //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/wink it still applies today //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/wink But the punishment of death is a judical law: it only applies to the people of israel which again no longer exists.

I promise those are the only 3 laws, and moral law is the only one that still maintains today.

Re: What's the problem with religion?

hmm, I can see how that breakdown of the argument would divide the act in ways that make your argument valid. Further, an argument with a socrates vibe pops into my head. I'd have a bit more work to do if I wanted to deconstruct his points so I guess I'll take a step back

thanks for the discussion

Ok I'm gonna stop arguing with you because all I can hear is someone else's doctrine being channelled through you.

Let's agree to disagree, and maybe one day you'll take a look at the real world and form your own opinions.

Theoretically yes, you DON'T HAVE to follow these because it belongs to the Old Testament (OA), Jesus abrogated the laws of the OA when he sacrificed, or when he shown mercy to the adulteress by forgiving her (according to OA law, she should have been stoned) and it's true he says he didn't come to the world to abrogate these laws, but he then says and does EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE and thus abrogates them. In fact, in the OA, Jeremiah predicts the new covenant

Jeremiah (31:31-34)

“The days are coming,” declares the Lord,
“when I will make a new covenant
with the people of Israel
and with the people of Judah.
32
It will not be like the covenant
    I made with their ancestors
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they broke my covenant,
    though I was a husband to[a] them,[b]”
declares the Lord.
33
“This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel
after that time,” declares the Lord.
“I will put my law in their minds
and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
34
No longer will they teach their neighbor,
or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest,”
declares the Lord.
“For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.”

So only the new testament should be followed. There's a reason why it's divided by OLD and NEW.

but then there's a third guy right? so then, he says "no, ignore the new testament" right?

so then ultimately that comes down to a personal preference of which old person to listen to?

Elaborate, Jesus stopped considering the Jews God's chosen people, hence why they hate him and don't accept him (thus the New Testament doesn't apply to them, because they don't accept him) hell, they even made a different plus sign (+) because it reminded them too much of the cross (if I remember correctly) (EDIT: Yup, it's because of that https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plus_and_ … _plus_sign )

Who is this 'third guy' you're talking about? If you accept Jesus, you CAN'T ignore the New Testament, if you follow Jesus you have to in fact ignore the abrogated Old Testament.

well, Islam. I guess they don't say "forget this guy" but they do throw out some ideas along the lines of "Islam traditionally teaches the rejection of divinity, that Jesus was not God incarnate, nor the Son of God and, according to some interpretations of the Quran, the death and crucifixion is widely denied and not believed to have occurred."

The thing is that Muslims follow the Quran and the Hadiths, not the Old Covenant nor the New Covenant (although some verses from the Quran are from the Old Covenant, in fact from the Hebrew bible) but they're not nullified by Muhammad, hence these teachings have to be followed. In fact, the Jesus of Christianity and the Jesus (Isa) of Islam are entirely different.
PD: Jesus (Isa) in Islam was before Muhammad, hence even if the Jesus (Isa) of Islam was the same, all his teachings would be abrogated by Muhammad, which was after Jesus (Isa).
