Intel vs Ryzen

I was dead set on choosing Intel before but now it seems that Ryzen is the better value processor.

Take two mid-range chips of similar price, for instance:

1. Intel i5 7500: 4 cores, 4 threads @ 3.4 - 3.8 GHz
2. Ryzen 5 1600: 6 cores, 12 threads @ 3.2 - 3.6 GHz, overclockable to 4GHz, more cache

Not just that, but most Ryzen chips come with decent and moderately attractive stock coolers.

The only thing is that to get the most out of the Ryzen chip you'd have to first be willing to overclock, and then buy a more expensive motherboard that supports overclocking.

I mean I'd go with Ryzen. Their processors are performing again and Intel's latest chipset has been less than desirable with some of their features requiring a physical key that costs quite a bit extra to unlock.
