Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

The Future of Everybody Edits - My open application to join the staff

As you are probably aware, TOOP has just resigned. Of the remaining admins — NVD, Jesse, Showpath, and Koya — NVD and Koya are rarely online, and they all hardly seem to get anything done. The team lacks transparency, despite NVD saying they are "looking forward to sharing our detailed plans in the upcoming weeks" 3 months ago. The game has less than 100 people online at a time, with that number gradually decreasing. As many have said, the game is dying.

This game has probably been the most significant game in my life. I first played Everybody Edits in September 2010. I was 12 years old when me and my brothers found this game. We were hooked by the magic of the game; the ability to build whatever we could imagine, to have other people play in our creations, and for us to play in theirs. Over time I saw the golden age of Everybody Edits in 2011, MrShoe's vacation, and the handing over to NVD and Nou. In the first real remake of EE, called "Blocking Blocks", I was even added to the staff to make graphics (though I barely started before that game died). I've been watching the game over these past couple of years slowly die, and with the latest staff resignations, I don't think this game will last more than a year if nothing is done. Which leads me to why I wrote this post:

I am officially applying to join the Everybody Edits development team as designer and artist. I've been toying with the idea on and off for over a year, but now I think it's time. I have the the design and graphics skills needed to fill TOOP's previous position. I have a vision of what this game could become. By the right people putting in enough effort, we can reverse the downward trend. I believe, that by joining the team, I can help make this game great again, to bring the magic back, and, hopefully, make Everybody Edits better than it has ever been before.

EDIT: Fixed minor things.

9/25 EDIT: Application canceled. The position is already filled, and I'm doing other things now.

It's not worth it. Let the game go. It's been such a headache.

Jesse is on daily, and showpath is online every few days.
Koya on the other hand I have never seen in my life and I haven't seen NVD in a month or so.

I think you'd make a great graphics designer, best wishes.

There needs to be -I apply for staff- topic if there isn't already, since "we will ask you if we need you" system is terrible, and abused by nou and nvd ofc

Btw if you think this guy is too self-confident, make sure to check his graphics, one of his smileys (aviator) even got added into game ^_^

Good luck.  I would love to see this game get the resurgence it has always deserved. <3

What do you mean by saying its abused?
Also, I would say that the best way to 'apply' would be to PM them, getting the community to back you isn't really going to do anything (plus it makes you seem a bit overconfident)

If there's one thing that this game needs the most, it's to build a more cohesive team of confident creators with a clear vision and well-rounded skill sets. Everybody Edits is undeniably a community-based game, so it only makes sense that strong community members would be the ones to take up these roles should they be required. And I'm sure all of you will agree that the game would greatly benefit from having someone with an actual understanding of graphics-design principles join the team.

I would normally say "Don't say these type of things that hint for you to become part of staff" but I actually want to see the outcome of this since you seem to have a decent reputation unlike these scrubby sensitive forumers that joined this year. On the other hand I really want to know what other ideas you got but I don't spend much time in EE.

I have never seen anyone named "Kentiya" in all of my years of playing EE and now he wants to take over TOOP's position? Not shady at all but ok...

I don't find this shady. I've seen Kentiya around the forum for years and he seems to be a helpful user.

Re: The Future of Everybody Edits - My open application to join the staff

The issue with the progress of Everybody Edits is that there is no profit incentive, it's all volunteer based and it's a basic economic truth that pure socialism and communism doesn't work.
Tell me, when's the last time that you took a visit to a public restroom, observed that the toilet was too unsanitary and decided to clean it yourself? Approximately never. There's people to do that, they're called janitors, and they have a profit incentive, they're paid.

It's nice that you're willing to volunteer for work, and that everyone is passionate about contributing in some form. I can sympathise with that, however it shouldn't come as a surprise that you don't get very much, nor very good things, for free.

Sorry to burst your bubble... the staff is corrupt and are jerks. They would only taint you if you joined them.

I don't see anything to indicate that Kentiya wants the attention. How does it "seem" that way? All I see a genuine post about somebody who wishes to be on the Staff team to help. You do mention that "most" people are like that, but statistics aren't an accurate way to judge individual persons.

If you're going to accuse anybody of being an attention hog, there are many better candidates, including me. Kentiya is one of the more modest users in the community as far as I've seen.

Pfft... 'let this go and let EE die'? Sorry to burst ya but i agree with kentiya. I think he's got enough experience to replace TOOP, maybe higher experience than him. If we can hire him, the chances of the downhill reversing will increase. Basically if Kentiya and others were to assist with EE, everything would be a bit more fine. Even if it's a long way to popularity...

So, for those who wants to see this game very dead, how about you shut up and see if Kentiya is worthy enough?

Tldr: i disagree if users wants this game dead. you may be saying 'ee is already dead', but you're wrong. there's still hope, if Kentiya wants to join anyways. I agree with him anyways.

I definitely wouldn't say I'm more experienced, but I do think I have similar ability, and possibly a better idea of what EE needs to be to get back to its roots.

And yeah, if I don't join, then the game dies. If I do join, there is at least a chance. So nothing really to lose. //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue

The game doesnt neccidarily die if you dont join...
Especially considering Atilla's post (cant remember where), that suggests something is happening with the dev team
