Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Seriously, It's not a chatroom? It's a forum. Forums are much more posh.

Hehe posh. I'm working class...
Besides, I'm not even a human being.

Sure beats me. But IIRC there's no rule that says "act posh and borderline arrogant" but sometimes I act like there is. Since there isn't I don't complain
But imo we could never truly talk like a human being because speech goes through a different mental filter than written discussion

I wouldn't like a forum that is complicit to one style of speaking, it's nice having conversations without undertones of seriousness.
I think you are right in your expectations of a higher standard for literacy and legibility in forum posts, as there's more time to articulate yourself better compared to the immediate nature of chat rooms.
I don't think you're right in categorizing posh-style speaking as 'talking like a human being', however, given that very few people are eloquent speakers, especially on a forum that is targeted towards kids.
*u stinky*

The "Posh thing was meant as a sort of sarcasm, but yeah, I guess I shouldn't expect that much from children.

I don't really mind things like bad grammar (a lot of the time that's because people don't speak English as their first language), but what I can't stand is the sort of 'I can't be bothered to use any punctuation' style of posts (I'm looking at you soniiiety and peace ). How hard can it be to just press the '.' or ',' key once in a while? It makes understanding what you mean sooo much easier!
Edit: I know some people would argue 'If you dont need them in a chat room, why would you need them in a forum', but in chat rooms your messages are only a line or so long, so the punctuation is usually implied by where you start and end each message, whereas in a forum you don't have that, so you REALLY need punctuation!

tbh human beings usually talk using vocalizations rather than letters, so i can see the confusion

It's a lot harder to type slang out than type alternative words that can be interpreted in the same way, if not, a better way.
It might not be a chat room, but there's still the benefit of not having to encounter other users irl. Makes it easy to say what you feel, within reason.
OP was kinda vague. "Why does no-one talk like a human being" - as opposed to what?
One bot to rule them all, one bot to find them. One bot to bring them all... and with this cliché blind them.

If you want your post to be posh, add this smiley instead of this one .
