only in some extreme and slightly connected sense. i.e., if we as a people completely abandoned all sciences, perhaps we would be closer to dying off for our ignorance of the world. (plagues, famine)

however, I think generally now that we've established ourselves to some degree on the planet, you can't expect natural selection to work since we probably wouldn't let our entire population die off when some new mutation shows up. we've peaked. (we might diversify, I guess?)

also, does natural selection work on ideology?
