Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Windows Creators Update

I upgraded to the new Windows 10 Creators Update (I don't need any of the new features I just like to keep everything updated). Has anyone else installed the update?

I tried using Paint 3D but I'm too poor of an artist to make anything recognizable.

There are also a lot of new gaming features but I'm not much of a gamer.

Basically I'm further emphasizing that I did not need this update in the slightest, but I would like to hear your thoughts and opinions on it.

Re: Windows Creators Update

It brings more advertisements and slightly more control. 0/10 would not update. There should not be advertisements in any software I pay for, least of all an OS.

^ I didn't get ads with the update.

If you use Edge it gets a decent update. I haven't noticed anything else.

Re: Windows Creators Update

I'm guessing that the adverts you are talking about are the windows store 'play candy crush now' adverts that pop up in the start menu

Re: Windows Creators Update

So they added 3d Paint, a streaming service for games, upgraded edge, and added ads in the start menu. All of those I will never use or don't use already. Great update if I say so myself.

Re: Windows Creators Update

Good thing I'm using the family computer or I'd switch to Ubuntu or Windows XP right now (since those are the only ones I have atm :/)

No those were already there. At least if you're talking about the "suggestions." So were the apps that install themselves without asking: Twitter, Flipboard, Asphalt, Minecraft, and a bunch more. And all the in-explorer ads for OneDrive, those were also already there. So were the full-screen ads on the lock screen. And all of those helpful "Get office" and "Use Microsoft Edge" popups and notifications, those were all there pre-creators update. And the ads inside solitaire. So if you see any of those, those aren't the new ones.

No those were already there. I'm not sure what adverts were added, but some of the press release type announcements proudly boasted that as a new feature. (here, Ctrl+F "more adverts")

Please for the love of all that is holy do not Windows XP unless you are going to isolate that computer from the outside world.

Easier question to answer would be where I don't see advertisements. Not everyone gets them, but the people who do get them seem to always get them, and the people who don't seem to never see them, even across reinstalls and different PCs. I think it may be linked to region or language or something.

On every install and PC I've had W10 on, I've seen ads in the start menu (4 different kinds), the task bar (2 kinds), the notifications center, windows explorer, the lock screen, and solitaire.

EDIT: Found a creators update-exclusive advertisement: https://i.imgur.com/FdSNwlk.png

Literally just an ad in the form of a system menu. It's seemingly a feature in Windows 10 that isn't actually a feature, trying to use it just asks you for money. People have always hated paywalls in games, well now Microsoft has brought that same experience to the operating system that runs your computers.

I don't know what I'm doing, but I switched to ubuntu and haven't seen an ad either

more seriously, those bulkware things are kinda annoying on w10

I see kids playing on some computer shops here that dont care about the OS so I should be safe....

Though I should get a Win7 iso just in case.

It's been 3 years, Windows XP is essentially swiss cheese at this point. Any computer running it should be considered public property.

Windows 10 is a botnet that sells my information to advertising agencies. I do not use it.

Re: Windows Creators Update

Everything I need to run works fine on Windows 10, I don't completely get the debate of OS's - I'ma leave Windows on my computer and Linux on my servers.

Also the creative update sprung on me suddenly and because illustrator doesn't have an auto-save (can with in built macros but I always forget to run them) I lost about an hour or two's work; it didn't give me anything and only took away from my creativeness //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/sad

Re: Windows Creators Update

My Windows is bugged and I can't update, gives some kind of error message that require too much messing around in the background to fix ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
