Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Progressive Music

Does anyone else enjoy progressive music? I've always loved this genre, and it surprises me when the vast majority of people don't or can't do the same.
Is it because it's too long? Pretentious? Boring?

Here are some of the samples I've appreciated over the years:

Dance of Eternity by Dream Theater

Close to the Edge by Yes [Long]

Supper's Ready by Genesis [Long]

2112 by Rush [Long]

Jacob's Ladder by Rush

Jesus of Suburbia by Green Day

21st Century Schizoid Man by King Crimson

My library is mostly limited to rock/metal, but if anyone knows songs I may not have heard of any genre, please let me know!

Re: Progressive Music

Never thought progressive rock as something I'd like, but I like dream theaters music. The reason many people don't enjoy progressive music is probably because it sounds too unfamiliar to them. Trying out new stuff is kinda the thing of progressive music right? Our school has many people who are into playing progressive rock as bands, and I like their way of having fun with it.

I've always though this guy as a progressive folk artist:
Jaron Freeman-Fox - "Back to the Boonies"

Re: Progressive Music

Really enjoyed listening to that, definitely something I'll be looking into.

For me, I grew up listening to the likes of Led Zeppelin, Rush and Genesis, so it was an easy transition. It also helps that I was surrounded by a large variety of music, so I was pretty familiar with different sounding music.

Re: Progressive Music

Separate band.  Way more experimental than Tool.

Re: Progressive Music

My dad subjects me to prog-rock whenever possible, so I know of a load of bands I don't like.

I like whatever sub-genre of prog Trifonic is.
