Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Greetings all,
We're in 2017, the look and feel of this forum is from 2006. This is not attractive to new players at all.
I suggest that this forum becomes an archive and a new forum built using the XenForo software. An example of an XenForo website could be World of Tanks forums, Minecraft Market, Spigot(minecraft community), Bukkit. You can checkout my own websites for demo purposes

http://pixelskies.org/forum/
XenForo comes with tons of features, such as, embedding of nearly every media type available, including, but not limited to, YouTube, Daily Motion and more.
XenForo provides a powerful instant alert notification system and this is important. Away in your browser? No matter! Xenforo will put an alert on the tab showing you that you have a new alert or message. This is important because it keeps the community interaction high and at a new level, there is no refreshing back and forth looking for different things.
You can create private messages with multiple users and have a chat similar to how a forum thread is setup. Xenforo comes with a powerful theme system that is easy to edit and design.
The look and feel of XenForo are very inviting and user friendly.
Xenforo comes with a built in wall for each user and a very nice friend and follow system.
If I was a new player visiting this game for the first time I would think that the site is old and unprofessional. The most important part of any community is the community itself, if the community can thrive, so will the game. This doesn't take a genius to figure out.
Everyone, I encourage you to post below so that different55 can see this is a good path to follow.

Just going to point out a few things for comparison purposes
We're in 2017, the look and feel of this forum is from 2006.
FluxBB has theme support, it can look and feel however you like. If someone wanted to try and make a mock-up I'd be happy to make the forums match. Might be easier than scrapping it all and starting fresh at least.
XenForo comes with tons of features, such as, embedding of nearly every media type available, including, but not limited to, YouTube, Daily Motion and more.
There are FluxBB mods that will do this, it just isn't built in by default.
XenForo provides a powerful instant alert notification system and this is important. Away in your browser? No matter! Xenforo will put an alert on the tab showing you that you have a new alert or message.
Should be fairly easy to add.
You can create private messages with multiple users
Our PM system now has no problem with this.
With the rest, FluxBB either can't do it or I don't feel like making it do it.
Something else XenForo does that we don't, since I don't see it mentioned in Simplicity's post, is alerting users when they're @mentioned in a post.

I wish we could have this feature too.

honestly i find both of their forums cringey
i also dont know whether advertising is a good thing to do even in this manner
It's fine. He PM'd me first and I told him I would only consider it if the forum users wanted it.

You could always suggest it and see if other people want it.

tbh i find it easily abusive and quite complicated to make it hard to abuse yet an effective system
what happens if someone edits a @mention into their post?
edit: sorry can you like move my post from this topic to that one thanks

Woah what.
That's a bit of a game changer. Not only does it cost money but it's not Free as in Freedom under the holy GNU Public License?
