Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

It started as a joke between our friends whether a hotdog is a sandwich or not, but now it's a really heated conversation.
Most of them wouldn't label it as a sandwich, but personally I haven't made up my opinion.
What is the definition of a sandwich? Where are the boundaries? When does it start being a sandwich and when does it stop? Discuss.

"Sandwich (noun) - An item of food consisting of two pieces of bread with a filling between them, eaten as a light meal."
By that Oxford English definition, a hotdog is a sandwich.

by that oxford english definition a hotdog is NOT a sandwich, since hotdog is a single bun.

It can be, and it can't.
It depends on if your bun is in two pieces or one.
If it's in two, it's a sandwich.
If it's in one, it's... something else?
Scenario:
Jimmy has a hotdog. As he takes a bite, the buns split and he is now eating a hotdog sandwich.

let's not jump to conclusions. is it acceptable for a hotdog to morph into something else while being eaten?

in this case, because the bun split into two, and the definition for the sandwich is "An item of food consisting of two pieces of bread with a filling between them, eaten as a light meal", with the broken bun being two pieces of bread, and the hotdog (and toppings) as the filling, makes the hotdog a sandwich.
Also it's not morphing into anything, the hotdog is the same, but now it's a hotdog 'sandwich'

Not going to lock this since there is literally nothing wrong with similar topics as long as it's there's not a new thread every 2 seconds or something like that.

this raises another point:
this "sandwich" is clearly attached. yet it's considered a sandwich.
if two unbroken buns are considered a sandwich, then a hotdog is definitely a sandwich

Would that make a hamburger a sandwich?

Sure, a burger could be a type of sandwich but you'd still call it a burger. Same with a hotdog I guess.

of course a hamburger is a sandwich, why wouldn't it be a sandwich?

okay how are you even supposed to eat a hotdog to split the bun into two parts with your mouth

Well sometimes the bun is flimsy and splits apart as you're eating it.

What if 1 half falls off completely, is it not a sandwich any more?
